I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great benefits, much room for fast advancement , great leadership and support. A lot of time off options. Verizon Is great for entry level , great coworkers too!

    Cons

STRESS. If you are NOT used to a call center , if you DONT LIKE people, this job is most definitely NOT for you. I stressed myself sick here literally. This job isn't for me lol. Surveys mean everything. If u get an upset customer ( and you will), and they give u a bad survey it kills your performance metrics. Also you can't hang up on stupid customers. You can't hang up when they get REALLY offensive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the pa , allow us to be able to hang up on customers.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Was a good company to work for. I like the fact that Verizon allows you to work flex hours then take the hours off you need more companies should do this.

    Cons

I did not like the fact that you have to bid on your shift.

    Pros

Great training when being on boarded into the company. Even takes advantage of outside training to supplement what is learned in initial training.

    Cons

Culture growth needed to align with what the customers expect. This can be done in a variety of different ways.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

great pay: benefits and base plus commission.

    Cons

pushy leadership, unrealistic goals. constantly changing expectations causes good employees to leave, often; Those who stay push unnecessary products on everyone who walks in the door

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Unify management's coaching and development process. Continuation of the practices in place will lead to more locations with unions

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, talent can take you very far with this company, PTO,

    Cons

Don't expect a work life balance in the retail area, quota can sometime shift to intentionally be against the sales reps, not all managers are effective leaders, when promoted from rep to management, expect a pay cut. Prepare to fight with every other department in the company to get issues resolved for customers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Either empower your reps or hire more managers. Reps take a lot of abuse from customers and have little or no power to help them. Also, customer care is useless, consider retraining them or close the call centers. Stop making quota goals ridiculously high just so you have an excuse to pay reps less for a month.

Executive leadership is most concerned with protecting their large compensation packages and being political

Former Employee - Director  in  Alpharetta, GA
Former Employee - Director in Alpharetta, GA

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Compensation at Director level and higher is VERY good
Benefits are good, but not outstanding
If you fit the "telephone company" culture, you'll have a job for life

    Cons

Absolutely horrendous onboarding process! Everything is "on the web". And oh, what a tangled web it is...
Transforming the business is causing significant disruption and relocation. People are afraid.
    Political, political, political
It's better to spin BS on the spot then it is to actually seek the right answer and come back
Data-based decisions? We don't need no stinkin' data...just do what feels right

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At the Senor levels (VP & higher) compensation packages are so large that it leads to very cautious and political incremental moves. People are afraid of you because they don't know what you'll do next to protect your position and fat comp package.
