Pros
Verizon Wireless has an excellent training program, with a good tuition reimbursement policy. Work available is on the cutting edge.
Cons
Career Progression opportunities are only available for a minority of employees. No programs to promote from within or encourage retention.
Advice to Senior Management
Verizon Wireless needs to have better policies to encourage employee retention and development. Management needs to walk the walk and not just talk the talk.
Pros
Good money if you work hard
Good benefits
401k with 6% match
Job security
Free work phone and discounted personal phone line
Cons
Micromanagement
Retail hours
Work/life balance
Low base pay
Having to work holidays
Advancement potential
Shows favoritism towards women and minorities
Advice to Senior Management
Stop taking away the few beneficial things employees have. In 2 years we lost casual weekend attire, great commission structure, attainable goals and instead gained micromanagement, weird/non-benefiting objectives (let's make MyVerizon kiosk usage 50%),

Cons
No Learning for Senior Resources but its good for Trainee

Advice to Senior Management

Cons

Pros
The bonus and service discounts
Cons
Unrealistic expectations from the employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Less about the numbers, more about the customers internal and external.
Pros
401k, pay for school as long as it is in a related business field. You will also get 50% off your vzw bill, amd get discount with Verizon fios,
Cons
Been with them 6 yrs in different states, nj management sucks, you will only get promoted if your BFF with mgr. And if your manager is single with no kids and you have a family... Your also done.. They don't understand and expect you to have like 3 back up plans if your kid gets sick or injured at school and you unfortunately have to take off. Not all managers all like that, but unfortunately mine was. Also, this particular manager did not treat her employees with any type of respect. If you did something wrong, she would not pull you aside, she will raise her voice at you and embarrass you in front of everyone... Not only does she currently do this to sales reps but to her assistant managers. She would never motivate you, and our store became depressing with no morale what so ever..within 3 months of her being manager there, 5 people transferred and one person quit on the spot. With her you have to do double of what the goals are in the store in order for you to get a pat on the back, if you reached the goal for the month, (which sometimes are a little ridiculous, typically no more than two to three ppl meet the goal, out of 18 reps) then you just did your job.. Verizon Wireless is a great company but it can make you or break you, you will always have bad apples, and I got the worse one.
Advice to Senior Management
Occasionally have HR go to random stores during the year to interview reps one on one about their experience in the store. No one wants to be THAT person that called HR on a manager, because typically the manager does find out and then she will go out to get you. Also, be strict on promotions, there are people that are average sales reps that get promoted just because the manager went to high school with them, while others that excel every month with great leadership skills who help other sales rep doesn't even get a fair shot. It's all politics in Verizon, you get promoted because of who you know not really because of how you do..
Pros
Pay competitive and bonuses were appreciated. The pay and bonuses could be based on a rating scale that was very subjective my management therefore it depended on who's butt you kissed as to what you would get. Very unfair
Cons
Communication between supervisors, managers and employees left everyone guessing. The right hand didn't let the left hand know what was going on therefore working together to achieve one goal was not accomplished.
Advice to Senior Management
Eliminate the subjective nature in rating employees. It is obvious that your merit increases and STI's are based on the ratings and the ratings are dependant on who likes you. This opens Verizon Wireless to litigation.
Pros
They have great pay and benefits. If you are at the top. Congrats! You will be making very good money in a short time. That was not a sarcastic statement. If you make it at VZW you will be set. Their managers make killer money.
Cons
However, the management is under enormous pressure to hit very challenging goals, and as they say, $H!t roles down hill. But more than likely you will simply give your youth to the company, while you can take this pressure cooker style management, until you have a nervous breakdown and have to stay because the benefits are the only thing that can keep you in the expensive anti-anxiety/depression medication that you have begun popping like candy. Otherwise, its great!
Pros
Great Benefits, but is a stressful job basically your a low payed psychiatrist dealing with everyone problems everyday. Very hard to balance work and life but they do have great staff and trainers and programs.
Cons
Horrible schedules a lot of weekends and nights.
