Pros
Great bennifits and paid time off
Cons
Can't keep the commission structure right always changing
Advice to Senior Management
Come see what we do on a daily basis
Pros
The benefits package is unrivaled: optical, dental, health I never even USED. A 401k that I'm now draining - with a 1yr vested balance of $2000 and a company-matched $4000. If you can make it 20 years, you'll probably reach a great position and get paid well to do it.
In terms of wireless, while the prices are a bit hard to work with as a salesperson, you have an irreproachable network to fall back on.
The company, at least for most of my tenure, went to a great deal of effort to throw in perks like free lunches, giftcards for good job performance, fun, district-level competitions and challenges, and regional trade shows and conferences. They were a lot of fun, if you got to go.
Working with technology is COOL. Being the only people in a small town who really got to DO it, and also got some of the most cutting edge stuff out there - that's even cooler.
Three words: Employee Phone Program. 50% off your bill. Period. That's hot.
Cons
By the end, some of the focus and passion that drew me to the work - that is, from senior management - had been sapped totally out of it. The job got harder with the addition of new paperwork and expectations, but nobody could provide any philosophical reason why I should bother.
The customers - they can be pretty unbearable. You have to have the patience of a deity sometimes. Nobody gets more impertinent or more persnickety than when they have a problem with their phone, even if it's one they're responsible for. At the same time, a lot of the issues were network-related: in other words, our fault.
The sales goals, by the end, had some frankly PREPOSTEROUSLY high targets, and nobody was able to satisfactorily explain why.
To put it shortly, we make a lot of controversial moves as a company, and sometimes they're hard to explain to people, or even to yourself.
Advice to Senior Management
You've got a great company, and great people working for it. Pay attention to what they have to say. Look at companies that go right to the marrow, in terms of telling you what they're about. Apple. Google. Freaking NETFLIX. They all have really good reasons for doing what they do and really good methods for HOW to do it.
Find a couple. It'll do you good; and ditch the Consultation Guides, they're a total waste of paper.
You do what you do for the right reasons - focusing on the WHY, they call it, rather than the WHAT or the HOW - and everything you do will be of value.
Pros
the benefits are really great, 401k, medical, dental and paid vacations. you also get bonuses yearly which helps. you also
Cons
there isnt room for growth. There arent any security in the job. you may not have a job the next day you go to work
Advice to Senior Management
the management team has to take responsibility for their actions and not blame their employees. They also have be a better leader
Pros
Excellent training and benefits package. On top of the newist technology. Oppertunities to use all phone platforms. Clean facilities including a gym.
Cons
Frequent overestamated quota numbers. Contests are so complitated to figure out that most people don't pay attention. Shift bid is based on performance but some shifts naturally do not get as many calls. When overtime is allowed, those that can will come in and pound out sales to make money. Those who cant come in will not make as much and not hit quota which will keep you on a shift that you dont want. Outbound cold calls to existing customers while this is an inbound facility. Your calls may be listened to by QA, Senior Rep, Supervisor, Director or at any round table groups. Reps stealing sales when a customer calls back and asks for 'Bob' and they say"He left or he isnt here or thats ok, i will take that 5 line order for him". You have to do it because you need what you can get for the out of reach quota. Lots of companies work this way. Its a meat grinder , Craftsmans Tool policy; use it until it breaks and then get a new one. They have Classes 40 - 80 people every month to take over for the drop outs. Most of it could be fixed if you 1) simply pay on profit margin. If inventory is flooded then pay on a spiff. 2) Have your team leader on calls with you once a week to work on deficiencies as well as check the order and grade it. Good by QA dept, Order Release dept and trainers. They make it very difficult, near impossible, to transfer out. If you dont have a family then you might have a 15% of making it for two or three years. If you do have a family and you do not like your spouse then you also have a 15% chance of making it a few years. "You are not a sales champion unluss you volenteer to work Thanksgiving". "Yes you will have an extra hour of mandentory overtime in December to hit a quota that only 18% of the company ends up hitting." October is a tricky month. You have to crush quota to get paid at the end of November for Christmas money. (doesnt happen much) I could fix it and would like the oppertunity to try.

promote competent employees capable of leading
Pros
you have the ability to make as much money as you want depending on how hard you want to work.
I love the industry and technology and verizon is leading the way!
Cons
there are heavy preasures to perform so if you need babysat or constant attention this is not the job for you. "corporate america" is this job 100%
Advice to Senior Management
please respect your employees thoughts on an item. the "i dont care how just get it done" attitude gets old real quick. help me and get your hands dirty with me
Pros
Great products and services to sell. Strong leadership and development program. Allot of growth opportunities.
Cons
Commission for retail needs to be better, retail is the backbone of the company but they are compensated the least.
Pros
Verizon provides a fast pace environment that allows employees to gain versatile skills that carried from one job to the next. It is ever evolving and allows individual efforts to be recognized. The benefits and bonuses you receive there are the best in industry.
Cons
The hours are very haphazard considering it is retail and sometimes the quotas that are put before you are unrealistic pending on time of year.
Advice to Senior Management
Those employees who seek to excel within the company at a fast pace should be recognized and proper mentorship should be put in place. A direct path should be laid out for them and lateral and upward movement should be more readily available.
Pros
You get awesome discounts towards Verizon Service.
Cons
Hours and getting days off
Advice to Senior Management
Great opportunities for internal promotions should be more available to entry level employees. Such as sales representatives at stores and employees who are college students, particularly IT and other similar majors.
Pros
Discounts on phone service is great.
Cons
Trying to get training can sometimes be very slow.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the opinions of your workers.
