I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

HIGHLY competitive salary, benefits that are just as great - lots of vacation and personal time offered and the 401(k) matching is generous to say the least. Lots of great people in the company.

    Cons

Can be very stressful, sometimes thankless, hours are erratic and commissions can fluctuate wildly from month to month.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Relax the intense focus on redundant metrics and start having a human make the schedules.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Health Insurance coverage is great, Co-worker inter personal relationships rock. They do work with National Guard and Reserves components for weekend training and Annual Training.

    Cons

Verizon Wireless Retail channel does not care about your family life. They prefer that you do not take or use vacation time. If you are in the military they will use you and abuse you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

none, because individual representatives have spoken up and none of them care.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You can make more money at Verizon Wireless than in most retail sales settings.

    Cons

Can be super stressful! Lots of metrics to hit and top-down pressure from management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some of the best people who make the most money are quitting because they can't stand the pressure anymore!

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Competitive Pay
    -Awesome Health Care

This place has probably the best health care, and the pay is decent. Unfortunately the commission structure is rapidly changing for the worse. Last year I had a net of $50k, but this year I was netting around $36k. I had my best year last year, and made almost half of what I made last year.

    Cons

    -Absolutely NO work/life balance.
-Can only move up in the company if you "brown nose"; merit alone will get you nowhere
    -Pointless meetings at random times
    -STRESS
    -Impossible sales quota
-No PTO (can only use vacation time, and it has to be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance. Kids sick and its an emergency? Verbal warning).

Just reflecting on why Verizon is a terrible company is stressful; just avoid like the plague. Read other reviews on here, many people have hit the nail on the head.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire new management, get a new CEO and VPs, less focus on shareholders.

A company that does not care about its long term employees.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, good 401k. If you want to be mediocre then this job is for you. High talent is overlooked and you are rewarded for not making any waves.

    Cons

I was with the company for years and I was fired with no previous verbal or written warnings, no call ins, outstanding performance throughout my career.
Cons: One person above you can be the downfall of your career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your people. It was hard to believe no one stood up for an employee that was so devoted to Verizon Wireless. I gave it my all and was very good at my job.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Working at Verizon the pros were good, competitive pay, great benefits, great discounts, tuition reinburstment, 401k match, commission based pay, so you can make some good money with hard work.

    Cons

This is a service based industry so you deal with alot of customer complaints. There is extremely high sales pressure to hit sales goals. Politics do exsist within this organization. There is not a good life and work balance working in a retail store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is not alot of positive feedback, but alot of critism. I would advise that you be a better support to your sales team. Practice what you preach and lead by example.

I worked at Verizon Wireless as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Amazing place to learn as an intern. The management was flexible and the engineering staff was very open to passing along their knowledge.

    Cons

Trying to get an associate position for long term employment as an intern had lots of red tape. I was looked over for some associate positions because they saw me an an internal hire.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure HR is keeping opportunities for interns to become full time employees open. It is a shame to train an intern & have them leave after their degree is complete.

    Pros

Good money if you know how to sell

    Cons

Terrible work/life balance, very difficult to get time off. Retail hours, very high almost unattainable sales quotas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get enough employees to only work 40 hours, not schedule employees for overtime. Understand that people have lives outside of the company as well.
