I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great Pay, Benefits, Voluntary Overtime, Work Balance, Learning Experience.

    Cons

Stressful at times, some people at VZW don't hold up to credo.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

it felt like management was told to give write ups to as many employees as possible just before they announced a company layoff for customer service. A hidden financial motive was at play that was not based on employee performance.

    I worked at Verizon Wireless

    Pros

Work life balance is decent. Time off and training is considerable. Good support from leadership team. Very open and friendly environment.

    Cons

Expectations are extreme. No considerations are made into the development and effort you put into your team. If you do not hit the metrics you as a supervisor are a developing employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More of a balanced scorecard.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked for a little over 3 years at Verizon Wireless doing customer service, The work is very basic and its fairly easy to advance into higher customer service positions. The pay is just ok. Great benefits. You get paid sick days and plenty of vacation and personal.

    Cons

Its close to impossible to be promoted into other positions besides customer service. They offer programs to help get you acquainted with positions such as marketing, but those only last for a couple months and than you return back to your old position after its completed. The companies values change up quite bit too. Part of being in an industry that's constantly changing.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company with excellent salary, benefits. Leadership knows how to consistently deliver results to Wallstreet

    Cons

The company culture from the Verizon side of the business is dragging down the overall company. Wireless and Legacy VZ (landline) FIOS are radically different

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, perks, discounts and management. If it wasn't for the fact I couldn't relocate I would still be working for VZW.

    Cons

Stressful from both ends (customers and management), but considering that every job comes with stress at least VZW rewards it's employees with good pay.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay is good, they offer great compensation package, assistance with child care, counseling assistance if you are going through personal tough times. 50% off your phone bill.

    Cons

As the market gets tougher they will pressure for higher metrics that at times may be unrealistic to meet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As far as management, they should all be on the same page. Some will be tough just to look good and secure a possible higher position and may jeopardize job. Is difficult after the 6 month rotation at the call center as what might have been o.k. with previous supervisor, with the new one is unacceptable.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Career advancement of you're well liked. Great discounts on products and services. Excellent benefits.

    Cons

Absolutely no work life balance. And they make no apologies for it. They literally treat the employees like numbers. They only care about your production. HR is more like PR. They will side with the company and management all the time, unless you threaten them with a lawsuit. Your schedule changes every 6 months. The employees are only as good as their stats.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start treating the employees like human beings and stop looking at them like numbers.

Verizon Wireless Life as a call center customer service rep

Former Employee - Customer Service Representative Pro in Irvine, CA
Former Employee - Customer Service Representative Pro in Irvine, CA

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Benefits are great, they start from day one, and the benefit of going to school is the best. The people you meet there are positive people who are willing to help you be successful, yet it is up the person on how successful they want to be.

    Cons

Management can be a little overly strict. Life happens and that is where they lose people due the people not wanting to do more. The call center that closed in Irvine was hard pill to sallow as many people relied on Verizon to keep its doors open in California. The pay could be a bit higher after all there is so much work that a Customer Service must due.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be human, promoting from within is always best, yet sometimes they don't look at someone is hurting in one area of their work and it is up management to focus on the positive. .. I would also say that since it is a call center may the culture of the call center to be a bit more positive as many share the life here at work
