I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Wonderful benefits, health and dental. Vision allows for new glasses every year, medical is good too, LOA covers for 100% for up to 12 weeks.

    Cons

Whole PA is based off customer opinion. You could bend over backwards for the customer but if they are just angry at verizon you suffer with the surveys. ONLY reason I left Verizon. Also not a fan that employees have to have customer contracts.

    Advice to Management

Get back to caring about your employees not just about the bottom dollar, when i started you cared about your employees and didn't care about being big business. Get back there.

I worked at Verizon Wireless (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay is great, the benefits are awesome, and you can meet quite a few friends there. You also can go there fulltime and get a degree to persue other endeavors if you choose to.

    Cons

The company ultimately doesn't care about you, regardless of what the culture says. It comes down to numbers and how you are making the company grow. There is no give or understanding for the human element, only how the numbers move.

    Advice to Management

The reason that churn exists is because there is no human element to the way the company reviews its employees. Supervisors should be able to impact if an employee progresses or not based on not just scores, but what is going on in that person's life as well as the center as a whole.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are alot of great employee benefits. Annual bonus, $8000 in tuition assistance per year (the tuiton assistance can be prepaid instead of reimbursed which is awesome in my opinion), affordabale insuance, discount on wireless service, on-site gym, etc.

    Cons

There is alot of infomation to try to remember. Customers are unsatisfied alot of the time which gives bad survey results. Very unorganized, things are constantly changing.

    Advice to Management

    None

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay, health benefits, and school assistance

    Cons

Too much pressure on performing numbers. There were at least 20 stats to keep up with along with handling customer calls

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits and great coworkers

    Cons

The advancement opportunities only come around once every few years so you are stuck on the phones, which is highly stressful bc your statistics are based on customer surveys. So if a customer is mad at the company and not you...they fail the survey which fails you. There is no exception to these. Most people who work there have degrees and are not compensated for their education. Everyone starts the same base pay regardless if educated or HS diploma.

    Advice to Management

Pay based on experience and education. Re evaluate your metrics by which you grade employees bc you are losing hard working, dedicated employees, who would other wise make this a career. You are also making a name for yourself in local communities as being a terrible place to work. It's not good for your business. Provide time daily for employees to de-stress, as this field is known for it's stress. This will help your employee retention and lower your training expenses.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits were very good, salary was average for the industry.

    Cons

If you are not a person that embraces fast-paced work environment, this is not the job for you.

    Advice to Management

Need to ask employees what past work experience to get the best talent in the best departments in the company. Ask employees to take ongoing training in different departments to move up in the company

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and people you work with. Tuition assistance is a plus. Bonus every year is a good perk as well.

    Cons

High stress, very aggressive numbers to achieve, sales goals in tech support with no commission. Hours can be hard to adjust to. No freedom no work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Make sure there is supervisor support more often weekends are bare bone staff with no support.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very good pay & benefits start day one

    Cons

I've seen so many people carried out of the call center on gurneys. I estimate that the majority are on antidepressants, blood pressure meds, heartburn meds. Cholesterol meds. You will eat SO many feelings attempting to deal with the stress of this job. Management will tell you the attrition rate is 2%, and you will honestly try very hard not to laugh in their face.

    Advice to Management

Get in the damn trenches and take some calls, then you won't be so damn cheerful & smiley all the time.

    Advice to Management

Have more flexibility, more opportunity to move up for tenured employees.
