    Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

    Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.

    Pros

Great Company. Pay is Great, Benefits wonderful, Phenomenal discount.

    Cons

Hours. Definitely a job for a single person. I enjoyed every minute of it when I was that but now...no way.

    Advice to Management

This is not a caste system... a level of respect is required for functioning adults to consider working here.

    Pros

I worked at the VZW HQ office in Basking Ridge. It was very professional, but not too stuffy. Business Casual and more casual on Fridays Fun summer music and snacks events. . Excellent cafeteria. Healthful foods and tastings available. Contractors were mostly treated like employees (one-on-one meetings, leaving early) and were flexible.

    Cons

Being a contractor there, you couldn't go to the gym or take advantage of any of the health screenings, including mammograms. Most likely, this was for insurance reasons.

    Advice to Management

While contractors aren't employees, it would be nice to have training in additional to our job responsibilities.

    Pros

Verizon Wireless has great employee benifits, work life balance and growth. You can can take advantage of the education programs offered to advance your career.

    Cons

The structure of the corporation is to departmentalized and pins regions against each other to promote sales. This leads to a high stress environment always working towards beating a region instead of building up the company.

    Pros

Growth is based on production and not seniority.

    Cons

Incentive plans change and require more work for the same or less pay.

    Advice to Management

In any form of management, being a good person to your staff is key. People will work for you if they genuinely care for you, but you earn that by giving that to your staff first; lead by example.

    Pros

Great pay, good benefits, time off, yearly bonus. I was treated well there and thought the compensation was more than fair.

    Cons

They're a giant business that is always going to be looking to cut costs. And the biggest cost is usually employee salary so your job is never safe. It can be hard to move into an offline position depending on your location. You may need to relocate.
