I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits and pay are great. Job has challenges and makes you think on your feet. No two days are the same.

    Cons

Work/life balance can be an issue. If you don't live in the right area it is hard to advance. A lot of politics around promotions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have better support for employees who want to move up or to different departments. There can be a lot of favoritism and if you don't know the right people it becomes hard to be promoted no matter how good of an employee you are. Also more remote working options. As a technology company this should be readily available but it is not.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, definitely the reason I stay. Ongoing training is a benefit in fast changing industry. Flexibility options are a true benefit if used wisely.

    Cons

Schedules have been a negative but upcoming changes may make that better. The excessive micromanagement can be unbearable. Its a performance driven company but I don't need updated stats hourly. Try to focus more on the big picture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop micromanaging. You have professional, educated, dedicated and motivated employees. Please have a little more faith in our abilities. Micromanagement to this degree can be demotivating.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Compensation is great if you are committed and can deliver a good experience for customers. Benefits are very solid compared to a lot of retail companies. Good opportunities within the company.

    Cons

Work life balance can be difficult to manage and there are long hours. Industry changes rapidly and thus so does the objectives. Base salary could be higher and team based approach could be more effective.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let people take sick days without dirty looks and contempt. This is the 21st century.

Former Employee - Retail Sales Representative in Detroit, MI

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

As listed in my title, Verizon is a large company with great benefits and above average pay.

    Cons

If you work in sales, it can be cutthroat. Retail sales can be especially demanding due to high goals in a saturated industry. The work/life balance of someone in retail sales is not desirable. You cover long hours with no scheduling consistency, with the needs of the business always above your needs outside of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management tends to effectively lead whatever directive is being passed on to them, which changes often. There is not much advice to give there. On a larger scale, Verizon should adopt the idea of switching their management within retail locations up to avoid complacency in the workplace.
