I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great Pay, excellent benefits, great friendly people to work with!

    Cons

Super stressful sales floor. No room for anyone that isn't a shark. If ur going to sales dept, you better sell ur butt off or out the door you go!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care more about the work/life balance of your employees. Everyone in the building was on some type of anxiety med or anti depressant. Happy employees make more sales!

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good starting pay for entry level with a hefty profit sharing bonus that comes around March or so. The benefits were top notch.

    Cons

Strict rules on call control and call count if you are in customer service. Not very understanding of personal issues that arise. My son became very sick with meningitis and I was let go for missing too many days and not meeting quotas. Also, not many in Management level seemed to be very pleased with their job.

    Pros

Co workers usually become like family probably because you spend so much time there. You can get away with allot behind the scenes in terms of slacking off or letting off steam also because of the high stress nature of the company.

    Cons

No corporate stability. Retail reps will tend to stick around considering you are contempt with continuously diminishing wages, it's highly unlikely to lose your job for performance reasons. I went through about 7 retail store managers in the 5 years I worked there. Almost mandatory to replace your management team every 1-2 years even if they are very well. You are always lied to that you control your earnings however it is almost impossible unless you scam and cheat the system. Employee moral is consistently low.

    Pros

Good experiences selling, get multiple opportunities per day to work on your techniques.
    Great benefits

    Cons

Your biggest competitor is your the VZW website.
H/R is only concerned about preventing lawsuits rather protecting the integrity of the workplace
They rarely let workers out of retail or the call center into other channels withing the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

H/R should represent white males just as much as black females.
Allow employees to move out of the retail/call center channels.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    great pay and benefits.

    Cons

mental health this company will build you up and also will bring you down, will have to give up the weekends with the family, as an individual need to have a low streess type of personality or other wise you will perish, cut throat bussiness that have change its policy's to tailor those of the shareholders and they are not scared to tell you that even from training so that you can make the decision to either stay or leave

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

they will present to you as individuals that will really care about your problems and genuine want to help you ( remember ) is their job to look that way when on the other side all they really are hopping is that you shut up so they go back to do nothing and play to pretend that they are busy

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are willing to work you can make some serious money in sales and reap the benefits of a m-f 8-5 shift.

    Cons

If you want to move to management from Telesales be prepared to work 2pm -11pm, sometimes working both saturday and sunday and in some cases taking a $40,000 pay cut if you were a top Telesales rep.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you make the Supervisor position desirable you will attract top reps. If you keep it how it is, you will only attract people who are mediocre at best and burnt out.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Friendly environment.Typical call center environment but co-workers are pretty friendly. I am happy to go to work each day.

    Cons

Pay could be a little better. Metrics constantly change. Customer surveys count too heavily and are practically impossible to overturn if negative or error was made. (calls have to be perfect in order to be overturned)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make your team members feel important and valued. Perks, food days, games, etc, have been eliminated entirely or severely cut since the economy tanked.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Time off, flexible scheduling, great people, great environment

    Cons

Very slow advancement and performance expectation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less focus on surveys that hinged on customers opinions about VZW policies and more on the quality and skill of the representative. Provided more freedom for lateral movement or moving into positions better suited for degree or skills.
