    Pros

    Good overall organization to work for. For a young person straight out of high school great first job. The pay is good for a very young person but for an individual with a family or young family it isn't enough.

    Cons

    For the career minded adult not the place to work. Too many hoops to jump through for very experienced individual.

    Advice to Management

    Make room for those talented individuals that could help the organization grow.

    Great Benefits, Career advancement highly encouraged. Company is always creating incentives for employees to stay motivated. Flexibility with paid time off.

    Very numbers driven. Job can become stressful at times. Work hours are not the best for families.

    Pros

    I can't think of a single company in any line of business that can say they are as superior to their competition as Verizon is to the other cell carriers- trust me, I've worked for almost all of them! Better network doesn't even begin to describe it! As a salesperson, I don't lose business based on the competition. The only deals we seem to lose are based on companies not having the time or money to switch. They all want to. The pay is better than any of the other carriers I've worked for. The benefits are better, too. All in all, it's a darn near perfect place to work, except......

    Cons

    Bureaucracy and red tape are how we do things at Verizon. If that doesn't bother you, then do everything you can to get a job here. It drives me absolutely bat-shtuff crazy!! The constant politics is ridiculous, too. 10 years ago, under the first CEO (Denny Striegl) we were a real entrepreneurial company. But now...we're the epitome of "big company" culture. If that doesn't bother you either...then do everything you can to get a job here!!

    Advice to Management

    They wouldn't listen if I had any real advice, so I'll just say keep up the GREAT work!! And keep paying us like you are!!

    Pros

    Pay and bonuses very good; professional management; respect for employees; higher education: when I was there, they would pay college tuition for those seeking Master degrees in business.

    Cons

    Little opportunity for advancement; high stress dealing with angry customers; your conversation/phrasing with the customer is largely scripted--you deviate from the script, and you can "fail" the call; You can have a customer send a letter to the company, applauding your customer service skills, and you can still "fail" the call because of your forgetting to follow the script exactly. This is frustrating and you can begin to feel like a robot.

    Advice to Management

    Consider allowing some leeway on scripting; customers dislike dealing with a robot, and certainly, intelligent customer service reps dislike talking like one. Why fail a rep on a call they handled when the customer is overjoyed with the excellent service he or she received? Quit micro-monitoring the call; guage it based on the overall customer experience: were all the customer's needs met? was the rep friendly and professional? If the answer to these questions is "Yes," then don't fail the call. You'll keep your really good reps longer that way.

    Pros

    Great Pay, excellent benefits, great friendly people to work with!

    Cons

    Super stressful sales floor. No room for anyone that isn't a shark. If ur going to sales dept, you better sell ur butt off or out the door you go!

    Advice to Management

    Care more about the work/life balance of your employees. Everyone in the building was on some type of anxiety med or anti depressant. Happy employees make more sales!

    50% phn plan discount and yearly upgrade

    Cons

    No room for growth when top of field they won't lose you to another dept.

    Personal investment not just a number. Promote promotion don't stifle because your sups don't want to retrain.

    Pros

    Good starting pay for entry level with a hefty profit sharing bonus that comes around March or so. The benefits were top notch.

    Cons

    Strict rules on call control and call count if you are in customer service. Not very understanding of personal issues that arise. My son became very sick with meningitis and I was let go for missing too many days and not meeting quotas. Also, not many in Management level seemed to be very pleased with their job.
