    - Learning is very important. They reward people who buy into this idea.
    - Senior leadership is made up of people who I have no problem following

    - High promotion potential, company growing rapidly.
    - Great bonuses

    Cons

Very busy all the time, can be high stress, growing pains are felt. Some teams have perks and amenities that others aren't allowed creating a culture of distrust in part.

I have been working at VersaSuite full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good people to work with and for, stable and secure job, lots of time off for the holidays, great office culture. Diverse work environment.

    Cons

I basically had to train myself. As someone who had never worked in medical software before, that was a challenge! Also, my managers were over-worked and didn't notice the hard work their employees were putting in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put a better training system in place, even out the work load among employees.

I worked at VersaSuite full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Looking here for experience?
    Work here for 6 months.
You get to wear many hats.
Get exposure to an emerging industry.
    Co-workers are usually cool.

    Cons

You may on call 24/7 even if your salary is under 30k yearly.
HR may not give good employees good references, especially if its to the competition.

Business model is built around " smoke and mirrors" , Over promise and under deliver, purposely.
I received absolutely no training upon ever.

Everyone will be made a manager. Then one day they will realize that since everyone is a manager, there is no real management.

    Questionable business practices.
Personal growth: Do not stay longer than 6 months. Its a waste.

There is NO concept of project management.
    Appalling moral.

CEO has daily meetings with every employee
Project managers quit because the CEO micromanages them.

Business model is built around " smoke and mirrors" , Over promise and under deliver, purposely.
I received absolutely no training upon ever.

The only reason this company is in existence is because the CEO has been funding it himself. I am pretty sure it hasnt been a profitable company for a number of years. Its less of a company more of a project.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire outside management.
Have CEO take an ethics class.

    Pros

I got to work on the whole project on my own from start to delivery.

    Cons

The management team have big problem and don't know how to communicate, lack of maturity in their response.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be part of the solution not part of the problem.

I have been working at VersaSuite full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Learn about an emerging industry.

    Cons

Company generally faltering. Appalling management. Nepotism. Negative work environment from peers. No long term outlook for company. Utilizes outdated and poor software development processes. Business model is based upon over promising and under delivering. Company owner likes to micromanage different departments and projects. He also gets personally involved with clients he feels are disrespecting him in an unprofessional manner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being so insular. Drop the hubris. Hire outside management and software development consultants and spend a lot of time contemplating the future of your company.

I worked at VersaSuite full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The only pro I can come up with is the co-workers...they were friendly.

    Cons

    - Extremely over-managed by CEO
    - Horrible pay
    - Can't work through lunch and adjust arrival/departure time
    - If you take your lunch at your desk, you better not play a game of solitaire...not allowed
    - CEO expects staff to check their voice mail and email before bed every night (including weekends) in case he needs something, and you better return the call/email
    - Arrival and departure time closely monitored (practically have to punch a time clock)
    - Calls employees to the carpet in meetings
    - If in the first 90 days you are out sick, must bring a doctors note (not kidding)
    - Overall, not treated as adults/professionals

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow Project Managers to manage their staff.

I worked at VersaSuite full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good place to get some initial experience and to get some experience across several areas. When not being over managed, the work is actually not too bad.

    Cons

Expect to be paid significantly below standard market rates. CEO directly manages all aspects of business himself and demonstrates a generally hostile attitude towards employees. Daily meetings with the CEO. Very minimal internal documentation and what is available is outdated. No clear version control. No version change-log. No code style guide. No communicated design scope. The general attitude of the the employees could be called disaffected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop over managing and allow the company to develop the product prior to selling the product.

    - Great opportunities for experience and advancement.

I worked at VersaSuite full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Everyone works well together and helps each other out, for the most part. If you can get noticed you can be rewarded for hard work.

    Cons

Getting noticed can prove difficult, non-client facing positions are often made to interact with clients. What the customer says goes, there is little actual project management, scopes are never established, scope creep is the name of the game, and information comes on a need to know basis, often invalidating previous assumptions and efforts necessitating a complete rewrite of a function.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get project management together, tell the CEO to back off, he doesn't need to be so personally involved in the projects, establish a scope at the beginning and give your staff all the information that you have, don't dole it out piecemeal like some sort of autocratic regime. Finally, if you are going to look for programming experience in employees, pay them like programmers, pay is not competitive
