Great company that has had challenges in the past but working hard to change their reputation from previous owners.

I have been working at Versant SC

    Pros

Versant Supply Chain is a stable company that is always looking at ways to improve processes. They are always trying to identify new and improved systems to ease the processes. They have an upper management team that has a high work ethic so in turn they expect a great work ethic from everyone else.

    Cons

    Below average benefits
    No matching 401k
    No consistent acknowledgment program

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better communication of what the companies overall vision and strategy are.

I worked at Versant SC full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Starting salary for clerical was decent
Not in the city; located in Joliet
Immediate work available (although you have to wait until orientation)

    Cons

    Subpar "training"
Expected to go well beyond job title (you work well beyond your pay grade)
Expected to know position, 110%, after a day while they keep on adding duties daily
Both manager and co-worker have child-like mentality. If I acted the way they did towards me, I would be fired on day 1
    No communication between departments

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix your managers and look for a better training program. I thought I had left high school when I graduated years ago!

This company offers an opportunity for you to gain experience while working with great people. There is always something new to learn.

    Cons

Salaries are not competitive (low), benefits package is horrible and there is no room for advancement. Poor communication, most information is spread through the rumor mill.

    Pros

It's a job, but not a career. Pays weekly. Hope you like long work hours. Do not need ethics or business acumen.

    Cons

Will take advantage of it employees in a tight job market. Little to no training. Executives are the good-ole-boy network

    Pros

None, unless you are part of the executive good-ole-boy network which will help shield you from poor performance.

    Cons

Executive management has all the answers. Disagree and you will no longer be employed.

The company is an impediment to improving our client's supply chain.

Company is owned by an investment firm which is unable to sell the company because of poor financials.

Company regularly lies to its customers and employees.

You get to work 10 - 14 hours a day because they can't afford to hire additional employees.

I worked at Versant SC full-time

    Pros

They do get you a job quickly, and it's decent money. If you're hard-pressed and need a job immediately you could get one here in no time.

    Cons

The places they hire for seem to have less than optimum work environments, they don't seem to want to stick to your specifications, I believe they work with certain companies that seem to have high turnover rates, and a lot of that is because of the work environment, they charge you for your background check, badges, and anything else that they can, and that takes about a hundred dollars out of your first check

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to listen to people more and worry about the companies a little less. The companies that you're working for can't keep people working there because they have other employees with attitude problems, and the situations that arise are badly handled. Not too mention that some of the people in lead positions are just as bad as some of the employees, and some of the places seem to have employees with a racial bent, that seems to get overlooked. I have personally experienced these situations, and I can tell you honestly that i won't ever come back here again. I don't care how important it is that I have a job, it's also important to work for good people.
