  1.

Nice enough environment to work in.

    I worked at Vescom

    Pros

    Good, hands on training.
    Little supervision during work shift.

    Cons

Hours; only allowed to work graveyard or evening shift. Supervisor must work the day shift.

No advancement. Once you hit max pay, there are no more raises and very little chance of advancing to supervisor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be sure to put capable people in supervisor positions. There should be no reason for a long term employee to train their supervisor. There especially should be no reason for a supervisor to ask employees to complete the supervisors work, just because the supervisor is incapable of completing their own work.

I worked at Vescom full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It's a wage opportunity in a horrible economy.

    Cons

Everything else. Only for work for VESCOM as a LAST resort.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Research professional security companies to see how it's really done. When you think about executing an initiative, stop yourself and do the opposite. If you find yourself confused as to how to improve, as yourself, "What would an intelligent manager do?" Then hire intelligent managers to do it for you.

I worked at Vescom full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

None that can really be posted

    Cons

The corporate office is a mess. Inept office staff. Constant payroll errors. Constantly changing hiring process. Minimal support from management. Lack or proper new hire and supervisor training. Many supervisors are fed up. Recently lost a major national account.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A total revamping of corporate office, management and regional staff is the only thing that will save you or sell out to a company before all your value is lost.

I have been working at Vescom full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

-The pay is fine, as long as you don't plan on making a career out of it.
-Good position for students and those who have retired.
-The work itself is stress free, however one small mistake can quickly lead to termination.
-Small size helps maintain quality employees.
-Corporate listens to requests and complaints.
-Hourly rate higher than competitors, but still not fantastic.

    Cons

-Hours can be extremely sporadic at times, which was mainly due to account manager. Eg, short turnovers between shifts, increasingly common double-shifts, and an account manager that rarely seems to show up.
    -Not much upward mobility.
-Corporate should care more about their accounts.
-Officers expected to have completely open availability at all times.
-Schedule has a nasty way of being completely changed for everyone with less than one week of notice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep an eye on your account managers. Too much freedom given to a poor manager led to unnecessary conflicts and stress.

VESCOM - The most inept and unprofessional security company EVER.

I have been working at Vescom full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It's very easy to get hired (they have VERY low standards). If you are drug-free, have no criminal history, and possess a heartbeat and a pulse you'll get hired.

    Cons

Vescom subscribes to a corporate culture based on nepotism, despotism and favoritism. Promotions are made under the table - contrary to their written corporate guidelines - and are based solely on the relationship with site management. Account managers with little or no experience are supervising guards with 20+ years of experience, and the outcome is reflected in a very high employee turnover rate. Finally, the pay is one of the lowest in the industry, further impacting the high employee turnover rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire account managers and regional managers that actually have relevant industry experience, and increase entry-level pay to a livable wage.
