I worked at Vestmark full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Challenge. Unlike a lot of the bitter reviewers on here, the challenge is one you set for yourself. If you can rise above the challenges, you will be rewarded.
    - Good Benefits, Stock Options, Snacks, Lounge, Friendly Managers
    - They promote from within! Dont listen to what other people are saying - Vestmark hires and promotes from within and has for its entire lifetime. Just because a few people are brought in now does not negate 12 years of internal recognition of hard work.
    - Excellent support staff and office and benefits coordination. They never let me down.
    - Great experience. Vestmark is growing and if you know you can handle the ride here then you can work anywhere. It's not easy - but you are rewarded for your effort!

    Cons

    - At the moment, a transition is occurring from small start up to larger company and as a result, some of the processes and management duties are confusing. Ok - but this is temporary. Listening to other reviewers on here makes you think it's a mess. it's not. The are just new or bitter. Give it time - they know what they are doing and what they are experiencing is growing pains - that's all it is. Not sure if this is even a con. For new employees, maybe.
    - I'm sorry I just can't think of any. People I've worked with are like family to me and my perspective is just different.

I have been working at Vestmark full-time

    Pros

friendly co-workers (if there is time in the day to mingle)
    free parking
good location, near lake in wakefield (helpful to get some fresh air during the day or walking
      meeting outside)
stock options (could be a con since they don't seem to have any plans to try to take the company
      public)
Benefits are ok, but 401K matching would be nice as it is talked about almost every year and never
      happens

    Cons

    long hours
management's inability to relate to workers
    minimal room for growth

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be truthful and honest with your employees. Create some kind of career path for employees to ensure and encourage growth and advancement within the company if benchmarks are hit.

    - Fun workplace.

I have been working at Vestmark full-time

    Pros

Many great people to work with.
Great product with lots to learn.

    Cons

    - Where you start is where you will be. No promotions for long term employees. Particularly dissatisfying when company hires higher titled outsiders who have little-no technical knowledge into an engineering position only because the person was a friend of some of the higher-ups. Spend couple years, acquire good experience and knowledge and move on to a company with actual promotions.
    - Below average salaries.
    - Company lacks profit despite age because revenue is used to fuel owners other companies - this makes the stock options mostly useless.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within instead of hiring people into senior positions without even checking for required skills.

I have been working at Vestmark full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people at work are very amicable and helpful. Product is interesting. Excellent Work/Life balance - People are comfortable if you need to work from home occasionally.

    Cons

Pays below industry average. Company structure is not clear and there is little room to grow. Performance reviews are extremely late - Sometimes as late as 1/2 a year.
Upper management is opaque when it comes to talking about company projects and company health. They tend to be vague and cover up when company projects go south.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review employees on time, give them room to grow, make salaries competitive and be transparent with employees.

I worked at Vestmark full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Extremely friendly and helpful colleagues.
    - Stock options (although this may be a con because the company doesn't look like it will ever sell)
    - Product has potential.

    Cons

    - Not a meritocracy. Sometimes projects you are working on get killed and then you get no credit.
    - Some managers care more about what time you come in instead of how much you work.
    - Engineers are being asked to sacrifice a lot of private time (weekends) to help out the atrocious night ops team.
    - Compensation is no longer competitive. Stock options are offered but no reward on those in sight.
    - Every year the promise to seriously look into 401k matching. Never happened.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put some effort into retaining the talent that you have. Stop treating employees like children. Give some serious thought to policies and work life balance. Lastly hire a half decent night ops team.
