Pros
Everything, free Monday lunches, everyone is friendly, lots of perks, opportunity of advancement, people are all caring, lots and lots of fun. Very good environment.
Cons
Really the only downside to working at VAMortgageCenter.com is that they are hiring people so fast it is very hard to keep up with every and there new positions.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you are doing it is a great place to work, just make sure you do not grow to fast and lose control in an industry already so shaky.
Pros
At VAMC we have some good perks like casual dress, golf outings, bowling outings, christmas parties, massages, free lunch mondays.
Cons
You have to work hard every day all day. It's stressful but you get paid better than average, so if you don't mind hard work and a fast paced environment it's a good place to be.
Advice to Senior Management
To management I'd just say that I hope you keep the company in tact and keep building it up. There's been talk that the company could be sold now that we've reached the top, sort of like with Show-Me Tickets, but hopefully that's not the case. We're enjoying it and we'd like to work here for many more years.
Pros
The people are this company's greatest asset. Everyone is so great to work with, not just because they are nice people, but because they are all so smart and passionate about their role in the company. It's a very cool thing to be a part of, and haven't seen any work environment quite like this. There are lots of other perks too - casual dress, great events, free food (vending machine and fresh food fridge), faith forums, etc.
Cons
The company is growing very quickly, and there are growing pains that go along with it. Sometimes we are understaffed in certain departments, or there is so much going on that changes aren't always communicated to everyone as timely as they should be. Changes are constant at VAMC, but I guess that also helps us stay ahead of the competition!
Advice to Senior Management
Keep trying to work on communication - I can tell you've been making more efforts and it's much appreciated! It's fun to know all the things that VAMC is up to, even if it doesn't specifically relate to my department.
Pros
We have a young atmosphere and a lot of fun. It's nice to work with friends I know from college.
Cons
We do work odd shifts and long hours and weekends to make sure phones are covered. Perfect job coming out of college to get business experience. Only downside is it's an entry level job so I'll get my experience but not much chance of promotion in company so ill have to look for another job in a year or two.
Advice to Senior Management
We are young and enthusiastic let us get promotions and move up in the company. Right now there aren't many chances to move up.
Pros
Pay was great, casual dress code, lunch on mondays, massages once a month, easy job, fun parties, lots of parties, basically one big party!
Cons
Party with a hangover, get hired get paid and party, then go find a new job. No job security, me and a couple friends all worked there and none of us are left. They just replaced us with new Mizzou graduates. We only know a few people who worked there more than a couple years. It's fun so enjoy it, but know it's a revolving door and you'll get replaced with some interns. Benefits were better at my other job. Commission wasn't as good as my friends had told me, basically just work for your hourly pay.
Advice to Senior Management
It was a blast, partied and kicked it with some good friends, but they let everyone go too easy for replacements. I didn't ever see much management, we just managed ourselves. Right now it seems your hired for a job not a career. Keep people longer, promote from within, manage more so everyone knows what they're doing and keep on partying!
Pros
The company values are amazing. Be passionate and have fun. Deliver results with integrity. Enhance Lives every day. We come to work every day excited to work hard and serve our clients. It is remarkable to work for a company that is so well-rounded. This company is full of high performers. The people that make up the VAMC team are energetic, fun, smart and caring. The company values are truly lived out on a daily basis. One of the most exciting things about working for VAMC is the community involvement. VAMC gives back in so many ways and makes it easy and exciting for employees to get involved whether it is volunteering at the Food Bank, running in a 5K fundraiser or getting involved with United Way. I am so proud of this company and of my co-workers. We strive for excellence in the work we do for our clients by providing amazing customer service, but we also make each other better people every day.
Cons
There is a lot of change and growth with this company so it’s really important to be adaptable. It’s really exciting to be a part of company history as we continue to reach new milestones.
Advice to Senior Management
Great job! Continue to live out the values. Continue to invest in the team and listen to feedback and ideas.
Pros
Benefits - Catered lunch on Mondays, Casual Dress, Strong emphasis on work/life balance
Cons
Most jobs are in sales. If you like sales, then it's great
Pros
The best thing about VAMortgageCenter.com is the people. Everyone I've worked with has been very friendly, intelligent, and passionate about their work. On the surface it might seem really casual and relaxed, but on closer inspection, people are hard at work here giving it their best. There's a real sense of teamwork and loyalty to each other that I've never seen anywhere else. The career opportunities, the fun company events, the very intense spirit giving back to the community - it all adds up to a wonderful place to work.
Cons
I have nothing to complain about. Something people looking to work here should keep in mind though is the hiring standards are very high, so it's not easy to get a job here. The job is also very challenging. This isn't the kind of place where you can just turn your brain off, you always have to be thinking and learning.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you're doing, and don't lose sight of what made us great. Continue investing in great people and letting them take charge.
Pros
-Challenging, exciting work
-Above average to great compensation
-Laid back, but extremely productive work environment
-Laid back dress code (I've worked at other jobs where I had to wear shirt/tie...this is MUCH better)
-Excellent company culture
-Exceptional managers
-Located in a really great, mid-sized town - Columbia, Missouri
Cons
-Some of the jobs can be stressful, however, those jobs are properly compensated in my opinion
Advice to Senior Management
Guys, I feel blessed to be on the VAMC Train and excited to see what the future holds. Keep up the great work!
Pros
I have worked at two very big companies and neither of them come anywhere close to what VAMortgageCenter.com has in regards to company values and culture. The focus here is not all about the bottom line. It is about Enhancing the Lives of others. Our goal is to have a positive impact on the lives of our clients, vendors, family, friends, co-workers, and community. That is a refreshing quality for any place of work. VAMC hires people that are in line with the company values. That means that from the first day you walk through the door you have something in common with just about everyone. It is truly a family atmosphere and I couldn't ask to be employed by a better organization!
Cons
Parking is the biggest issue. We are growing exponentially and our poor parking lot can't contain us. Getting into a building and a lot that can eventually hold all of us would only strengthen the already stellar culture.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what your doing. Your willingness to embrace change and forward thinking are what keeps this place fresh and fun. Thank you for making this THE place to work!
