Pros – Not a lot of meetings, opportunity to do a lot of work.

Cons – A lot of people left company, voluntarily or not. Reaching point where very difficult to make any real project advance.

Cons – The payment is lower than the market.

Advice to Senior Management – The management need to be improved.

Pros – flexible working time and you can work on different field

Cons – can not see a bright future

Pros – Excellent technology to work on across the board. Can learn quite a bit if you are proactive.

Cons – -The management is seriously lacking: Little to no leadership or management ability, obvious creation of fiefdoms. Little to no accountability on their part as well
-No concept of proper project/program management. Projects are always behind schedule and over budget
-Unable to stand up or push back to clearly unreasonable customer demands, which led to scheduling delays and slips. This caused a reduction in customer confidence (and ultimately some dropped projects)
-Massive lay offs are continuously being performed with no restructuring or sustenance program in place, leads to no confidence in the future of the company

Advice to Senior Management – Diversify. The media SoC business is not one where money can be made.

Pros – Very good collaborative colleagues. Good opportunities to learn technologies, especially low level firmware and device drivers.

Cons – Bad management. Very less stuff meeting. You don't know what you are fighting for. No vision for EE. No good process.

Advice to Senior Management – Find a buyer to sell this company is the best fate.

Former Employee – worked at ViXS full-time for more than 3 years

Pros – Get paid and support a family. Other than this, no pro. They laid off lot of people in february. They always lay off less than 50 people to bypass Ontario severance rules.

Cons – My superviser is one of few non asians, he did not treat me good. He told management to lay me off to save his job and now he becomes manager. He is harming the company big time.

Advice to Senior Management – Look at mid level managers, they are not doing much work and getting fat salary which they cannot get anywhere else. Discipline them and you will again do good.

Cons – Lack of respect for employees, lack of planning and hence often times, overloading work and weekend expectations, extremely poor and rude management

Advice to Senior Management – Plan better, treat employees well and stop the virtual slavery

Pros – interesting technologies, and that is about it.
I wish I could say anything else good about the company but I just can't

Cons – the worst managed company I have ever seen. Arrogant management, doesn't care about the employees and employee retention. Hires mostly oriental immigrants with low salaries.
The company is trying to compete in the big boys field but is far far behind when it comes to execution and quality, and doesn't stand a chance.
It advertises open positions all the time, but actually has had massive layoffs in the past few months, when the latest and the greatest was a couple of weeks ago.
Very bad workplace. It survived on investor's money and on government grants, but the money is running out.

Advice to Senior Management – close the the company, the sooner the better. you don't stand a chance.
