    I worked at Viacom

    Pros

Great pay and benefits with work out facility and loads of discounts at employee web portal. Also, weekly drawings for nice prizes and gift cards given out for Christmas as well as recognizing monthly employee birthdays.

    Cons

Micro managed on a daily basis, will check on you if in the bathroom to long, and would want you back from break like a minute early. Who does that? Management cares nothing about their employees and will step over you to get to the top.

A company that looks to layoff good employees to pay off share holders and make them richer while you have no job.

    I worked at Viacom

    Pros

Viacom is a fun place to work. Great benefits, great people and wonderful environment

    Cons

The technical department for Viacom is poorly managed. With technical managers that argue with each other consistently and look to out preform each other's group rather than work together in providing a better network environment for end users.

This type of culture has lead to many technical executives either fired or demoted. Finally HR does not look out for the well being of any employee in I.T or the rest of Viacom. If you've been working for Viacom for a certain amount of years (for example 12+ years), you would be targeted as the next person to layoff because you've reached a salary cap that can't go higher. The result is cutting cost by laying off good workers in order to lower the salary expense and pay shareholders by making them richer while the people that made Viacom a great company have no jobs to support their families.

    Pros

Viacom is a very progressive company that truly has the best interests of its employees, at heart. It offers great pay, great benefits and an excellent work/life balance. It's also a fun place to work.

    Cons

Senior management sometimes make decisions for short-term gains, while losing sight of longer-term strategy.

    I worked at Viacom part-time

    Pros

Training, salary, work-life balance are all great but the work environment was amazing. You feel like you're just hanging out with friends rather than working in a corporate building. It's a very relaxed atmosphere.

    Cons

I noticed that the company doesn't really value much their employees. (Maybe because they see them as replaceable, which might be the case, but still would be nice to see the hierarchy value others). I also noticed a miscommunication between several departments and that always makes work harder for both of them.

I worked at Viacom as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    - Get a lot of exposure to different mediums of productions (ie recorded, live, shorts)
    - Internship mentors push you to network and help you to do so - had a few interviews set up after internship was over (although it was months later)
    - Lots of seminars and programs you can learn about different aspects of how Viacom works, marketing strategies for different sectors, etc.

    Cons

    - Seems like a totally disorganized place to work full time
    - Interns are paid now but weren't when I was there - If I was getting paid I wouldn't have cared about my "finance internship" being scanning time sheets all day and making copies.
