Current Employee – been working at Victoria's Secret Stores full-time
Pros – This is a fast moving, never satisfied, constantly re-inventing itself type of company. If you're looking for a company where you can coast through an easy 9-5...this company isn't for you. If you're looking for a company that will constantly challenge you, constantly re-invent itself, and will teach you more than you ever expected...this is the right place.
Cons – As the company grows, the bureaucracy grows with it. The company has tried to do so much, that competing priorities (and leadership) is sometimes confusing for stores to prioritize.
Advice to Senior Management – Ensure priorities and direction is aligned not only through the "company" messaging, but through all facets of leadership.

Former Employee – worked at Victoria's Secret Stores full-time for more than a year
Pros – The company has awesome benefits and talks a great game...If the business actually ran how the company claims this would be a great place to work.. but it doesn't.
Cons – Plan to work at least 60 plus hours a week and dealing with very petty and vain women. (FYI Men do not see upward mobility within the company) You will put in long hours and you will be expected to work through lunch everyday... if you need to leave for a doctor appointment that time will be taken out of your 17 days of vacation/sick... they do not consider that you make up the time by working 60 hours a week.
Advice to Senior Management – Management has favorites and will only listen to those people, unfortunately most of the favorites are right out of Ohio State and have no experience in business...
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for less than a year
Pros – Many interesting and fun co-workers, discounts and various gratia throughout the year, opportunities for management training for those interested in long term careers
Cons – Management is extremely condescending and downright cruel sometimes. I often felt belittled by the managers and one occasion was called stupid in front of a customer for not knowing if a particular product was still in stock. The managers also have a habit of screaming at the cash wrap associates over the headset for not smiling. They also seem to "punish" those who have other jobs or school by scheduling them for times they have ask for off and then sending them home 6 hours early on other days. Overall, if you are not looking to have a career in retail or fashion merchandising, find another part time job
Advice to Senior Management – Recognize what your associates do for the company, not just through words but through actions and treatment.

Current Employee – been working at Victoria's Secret Stores
Pros – Leadership works diligently to ensure talent is satisfied and valued. It is a great learning environment where the work is challenging and satisfying.
Cons – People do work very hard, so at times it may seem that work/life balance is compromised, but as long as work gets done, I felt leadership was willing to be flexible if needed.

Current Employee – been working at Victoria's Secret Stores
Pros – Strong brand equity
Strict processes are great learning opportunities for those with limited job experience
Although leadership is not focused on people or work life balance, there is a lot that can be learn from the fact that they have been with the business for a very long time
Cons – Terrible work life balance
No communication/feedback on performance from leadership
Culture is resistant to change and new ideas
Lack of care for its people - burn and churn thru their associates
Advice to Senior Management – Be more open minded regarding new ideas
Make a bigger effort to provide work life balance, or at least communicate honestly that work should be the #1 focus
Establish true values and follow them

Former Employee – worked at Victoria's Secret Stores
Pros – -Employee discount
-Bigger employee discount during holidays
-Community/family-minded work team
-Cross-functional experiences in sales, cash wrap, customer experience, management, visual, operations, etc
-Leadership and management opportunity
Cons – -Difficult to get time off (computer system was complicated)
-Long/late hours surrounding major holidays
Advice to Senior Management – When hiring many people from a college campus, be more sensitive to the fact that we are students and can't work 40 hour weeks. Be sensitive to time-off requests for finals week. Also, the management should be able to recognize notable executives of VSS for stores located in same city as HQ
