Pros
Again the free stuff and discounts
Seeing the new stuff that comes out before anyone else
Being able to talk to the customers
Friendships made with fellow associates
Cons
Pay was horrible
Work every weekend and close every night
Being responsible for cleaning basically the entire store (straightening every panty in every drawer)
Rude customers
No room to move up within the company
Pushing the sale of credit cards too much
Basically the pay is not worth it when you're selling and cleaning up the store which is alot of work!
Advice to Senior Management
Praise the employees more! They work hard to try to help every customer while trying to keep the store clean which is alot of work!
Pros
Victoria's Secret is a great company to work for. I have been able to advance within the company in stores, and I am hoping to one day work at home office.
Cons
Although I have advanced in the company, it has taken a couple years. The direction from corporate is sometimes unclear, which can make working in stores frustrating.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be helpful to have more open communication from corporate down to the stores. I feel that many of the people who are giving direction have never actually worked in a retail store, which makes a big difference in knowing and understanding the customer.
Pros
-Attractive environment.
-Opportunities to advance (Associates Interested in Management program)
-Excellent training (16 hour onboarding with trainings in store every so often)
-Occasional free samples
Cons
Not a job that can provide a living wage at least starting at the starting wage and working around 20-25 hours per week
Advice to Senior Management
You're doing a good job for the most part, but I think you sometimes forget that people have lives outside of work and how little we (sales associates) get paid in comparison to you.
Pros
the best reasons to work at victoria's secret are the co-workers and the supportive environment. I have never had an issue with anyone that was not resolved. the discount is also nice.
Cons
It is sometimes difficult to deal with irate customers or customers who try and harrass employees. I have no issues with the job itself.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure that the management is fully educated before being placed on the floor. ideally the management would come straight from lower employee status to avoid confusion.
Pros
- Good management, managers make a consistent effort to train and integrate new employees with present staff
- Store is new, PINK section is great
- Emphasis on employee satisfaction, growth, and well being!
Cons
- Semi-annual sales are exhausting, chaotic and hectic.
- People get crazy during the holidays, and you cant give away bags which is another huge issue all on its own lol.
- Pay could be a little better
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work, excellent products, perhaps paying a bit more would really raise sales and increase employee satisfaction during SAS and holidays.
Pros
It's a classy pay, great people, and the company is just good in general. They treat us well. There are always opportunities to advance.
Cons
I don't really have any cons. It's a good place with good opportunities. Pay could be a little better of course ;)
Advice to Senior Management
It has very good leadership. They have good standards and good morals as a company. I hope to be management some day.
Pros
If a fun atmosphere and I love helping customers.
Cons
When I first applied for the job I thought that it would be a good experience but I was completly wrong. From the first day I walked in I knew that I had made a bad decision. I got no training whatsoever. I was just thrown out on the sales floor, I had no clue what I was doing and I could not help customers because I did not know anything about the store. Also I was being told by the mangers and other associates that I was doing everything wrong every 5 minutes, pretty much I was just there to fix and put all the merchandise away. I also was never on the schedule to work I had to called the store 5 times the day before in order to ask if I was working the next day, they would also cut my shift so they wouldnt have to give me a break. It made me feel horrible about my self and the worst thing is that one of the mangers took me aside to tell me that I was not pretty enough to work there, that I had to wear make up and do my hair before going to work and that I had to dress nicer also that I had to be more peppy when talking to customers. That was really harsh I went in doing the best that I knew how and I ended up feeling like a total skrew up. And the worst part I have only been there a week and I already going to quit once I recieve my first and only paycheck from victoria secret.
Advice to Senior Management
To the management of Victoria Secret in Coconut Grove Miami FL, train the girls you hire so that they do not feel completly lost and so that they do not do everything wrong and have a hard time helping customers. Be nicer to the new girls and tell the girls that have been there longer not to boss the new hireres around like there managers. I would had stayed working there if I had gotten trained and felt like part of the team not the skrew up everyone makes fun of.
Pros
great discount
gratis
learning labs
fast-track within store positions ( 6 mo or less)
mission statement & core beliefs
company incentives
Cons
promised 1 wknd off a month, but not holding true thus far
constant turn-over
lack of proportional pay to work ratio- "over worked, under paid"
constant battle with payroll
lack of stability
Advice to Senior Management
To the DM's & RM's: actually practice what you preach, meaning, you say you want employees/ middle management to have a well-balanced life...yet you constantly embark on their personal lives & time with family.
Pros
the place is fun to work at and the best experience is working with the customers. also the stuff you learn like bras can be great and learn the beauty products they have great employee discount only.
30% employee discount only
free stuff once in a while
fun environment to work in with the right people
dress code policy very professional
work with the right people interaction is great
Cons
horrible hours very little
hire way too much employees sometimes the worst people only care about themselves
rude customers you learn to hate people
management only care about themselves
favoritism plays a lot
associates not allowed to use other coupons or gift cards. only employee discount which is not that
great
too much call-in shits than regular shifts
distribute hours uneven and unfair
management don't have the time to sit down and talk to you about your concerns of scheduling.
Advice to Senior Management
stop hiring too much people and learn to hire the right people and learn to distribute the hours evenly. also stop playing favoritism
Pros
Associate discount
Never dull
Always challenged
Gratis
Behind able to coach and develop new associates and managers to see their development
Cons
No work life balance
To be threatened by your Dm regularly
No feedback given
No real form of communication from Dm to sm
Advice to Senior Management
Take into consideration peoples work life balance scheduling SAS and brand guides to be staged over major holidays makes the team feel like there is no consideration
