    Pros

Vidant is a teaching facility and a great place for a new grad to begin. You get adequate orientation and are well prepared.

    Cons

starting pay was $21/hr, no shift diff until orientation is completed.

I worked at Vidant Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked on Mother-Baby, great atmosphere and people to work with. Enjoyed my nurse residency program, very thorough and I felt prepared to step on the floor as a new grad after completion.

    Cons

Shortage of nurses on every floor. Many flex shifts were required every pay period. Pay was mediocre, but as a new grad it was expected.

    Advice to Management

I worked on a great floor and was very happy in my position. I felt that the management was adequate and they cared for their team members.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Vidant Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Worked with some awesome people. Large hospital, so great opportunity to learn a lot.

    Cons

Has some upper management issues. Pay not very competitive with other level I trauma centers in the same area.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are your most valuable asset. Company spends lots of money to recruit and train, but very little to retain staff. You offer hiring incentives, bonuses at hire with a contract of varying lengths, but nothing to encourage your staff to stay. If you train but can't retain, there is little benefit for Vidant. Other hospitals will thank you because you have taken on the burden of training of training the employee they will get in two years.
