    Pros

Compensation was great, co-workers were great.

    Cons

One of the most ineffective management organizations I have ever worked for.

    Advice to Management

Management's job is to set a clear agenda and remove all barriers to success. When you have experienced senior people working for you, trust them. They might actually know more about their area of expertise than you do.

    Pros

Fabulous and interesting people. Vidyo is a generous company and is always finding reasons to celebrate with food and fun. This is a flexible work environment with good direction and room for growth.

    Cons

I have been here over 3 years....don't apply if you are not interested in a fast paced, leading edge environment.

    Advice to Management

My boss trusts me to do my own thing without micromanaging. I appreciate and value that trust. In general I find management to be accessible and fair.

    Pros

Management is top notch. Smart, innovative, communicative, and friendly. Everyone helps out and shares their knowledge and time with new staff. No one is left on their own and no one is criticized for asking for help, it's encouraged. The work is voluminous, fun, engaging, and challenging. This company has amazing technology to go alone with great staff and wonderful leaders. It's great to be a part of something with so much potential. I love my job and the company, I'm fortunate to look forward to work each and every day.

    Cons

Regular feedback from management doesn't occur.

    Advice to Management

Implement annual review policy and standard merit increases. Create program or advertise existing program for staff to acquire more options.

    Pros

    Coolest videoconferencing technology, smart people

    Cons

Poor decision making, History of keeping up with underperforming employees

    Advice to Management

Vidyo's technology is great, but creating a successful startup is more about execution than technology. Best companies in the world give a lot of thought to executing and executing well. Maximizing productivity of people is very important. Here are some specific examples: 1) Using newest and greatest tools can save precious time of people. As a result, they can get more done in the same amount of time. One specific example is that the company still uses CVS as its version control system. 2) Automate tedious things that are not worth fixing manually every time. Many decisions are focused on short term gains, without looking at the bigger picture, or long term consequences. Vidyo is still a startup. Don't hire mediocre people. Don't hire anyone who you are not willing to give equity of the company. If you do hire someone, give them equity.
