I worked at Vie de France Yamazaki full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Testing the products that were made

    Cons

Only recently did they hire new management. Prior to that management that that what was done 20 years ago should still be done.

    Advice to Management

Embrace some change. New models are not bad and try different "documentation standards".

  2. After working with Vie de France twice in my career, I look back on my experiences with them as favorable.

I worked at Vie de France Yamazaki full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed selling their products, as the quality was very good. Also Vie de France and their products are well known in the food service industry.

    Cons

When releasing new products, often comparable products were already released by other bakery companies. Also new products were not always given the time needed to get them into distribution.

    Advice to Management

The company needs to try to be more of a leader in the bakery industry, both in products and manufacturing.

  3. Good small company with corporate support.

    Pros

Good people to work with. Pay increases and profit sharing when things are good. Fast paced environment. Clients call in just to praise a job well done and recognize exceptional associates. Word of mouth recommendation really keep this company on top. Corporate representatives help support company in solving product issues. All products are very reputable. Installation crews are loyal to company and take pride in their work. I appreciated being recognized for going above and beyond. The work life balance is great, benefits are great, time-off policies are as good as that of a larger corporation.

    Cons

No room for error; if you aren't on your game, things can snowball and affect all. A dissatisfied client can reflect on the word of mouth business and on surveys returned to corporate headquarters. They take the surveys seriously. Because the company is small is there is only so much room for personal growth. Occasionally, there is an expansion in a department or a new showroom or someone leaves a position. Most growth is lateral.

    Advice to Management

If there is any constructive advise I would give, it would be to squeeze in more training. Due to the fast pace of the business, those new to a position must hit the ground running with little training and little time to pick the brains of others. The learn-as-you-go route creates a little more error from the employee which can ripple through the project.

I worked at Vie de France Yamazaki part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Colleagues are very nice and friendly. It is a very simple job and it is very good for the people who only want a part-time job. Sometimes you may be able to take some leftover bread home.

    Cons

Not a lot of business when it is cold so you may not be able to work for a while. The working condition is not that great.Sometimes the whole experience can be ruined because of a bad manager.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees more and be more generous to them.

I have been working at Vie de France Yamazaki full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

What I like best is the employee relations, a bunch of good people. I could not ask for a better supervisor/manager. Upper management is friendly and personable. Working conditions are good.

    Cons

The company is stuck in the last century when it comes to benefits. Although the company does have good insurance, they fall short in the respect that they don't view stepchildren as part of your family, and therefore refuse to cover them under their insurance. It is really a challenge to work for a company that could care less about your family, or their well being; but expects you to keep their(the company's) best interests at heart. It is, at the very least disheartening.

    Advice to Management

When someone interviews, and asks about insurance, don't beat around the bush and mislead them about the insurance. Let them know on the front end if they have step-children that the company doesn't view them as family and will absolutely refuse to cover them. Then the employee can make an informed decision as to accept the job or not, instead of being locked after 60 days, only to find out they made a mistake accepting the job.
