I worked at Village Tavern (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The clientele is normally upper middle class, so for the most part tips stay around 20%

    Cons

The management is condescending and doesn't recognize a good job done

    Advice to Management

Start encouraging your employees instead of ripping them down and making them resentful as hell

I worked at Village Tavern full-time

    Pros

There were not many, apart from the fact that one could behave as badly as possible in the presence of management outside of work hours.

    Cons

The entire structure and culture of the establishment. The blind lead the blind. If you feel like working for a low rent Cheesecake Factory, have at it. Otherwise, you would be better served finding and employer that has some idea of why the doors are open from day to day. Probably one of my greatest failings is spending more time than it took to complete my first interview trapped in this disaster.

    Advice to Management

    Is there actually management?

I worked at Village Tavern full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay, discount on food, some cool co workers. Flexibility in scheduling.

    Cons

Drama and management does not care about employees. After you have been there awhile they expect to take advantage of you but then in return treat u like crap.

    Advice to Management

Get better management that cares about the staff and not their pay check.

I have been working at Village Tavern full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Food is fantastic and ridiculously easy to sell. Management genuinely cares about the employee for the most part and will easily work around your schedule as long as you are a diligent worker.

    Cons

It's very close knit and difficult to find your niche with the employee's. Their is also an abundance of gossip and trash talk, which is expected in a restaurant.

    Advice to Management

Be more keen on listening to employee input. In all honesty, we know how the restaurant behaves and flows better than you do. Especially when it comes to dealing with people.

I have been working at Village Tavern full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good money for the most part. Great management staff. Great server staff. Hotschedules app makes things easy.

    Cons

Money could be hit or miss some weeks. You can have a $150 2-top, or a $40 six-top with kids. Schedule depends on how many people they have - sometimes during lulls you could be working almost all available shifts.

    Pros

Great food and a great atmosphere in the area around the restaurant. The patio was also awesome! Fun place to work.

    Cons

The kitchen staff is not very good at their job. They are not very efficient which makes it very difficult to be a good server.

    Advice to Management

    Fix your staff
