    Pros

Most colleagues are great (some slackers but it's hard to remain motivated at all times in the poor conditions you're given so who can blame them?), when you get to engage with members it's the best, and you get unlimited use of the gym when you're not on shift (you couldn't afford the membership on the pay they give you)

    Cons

Poor pay, and the only career progression you get to make is in job title only because you remain on minimum wage. Too much moving around of Club Managers around clubs means you're effectively under new management every so many months. Much of the head office staff is too young, too low-skilled and too inexperienced to work adequately ("and admin error means you don't get paid this month, but you will get paid that money in next month's pay" - try explaining the sender of that message who's never yet had to properly pay rent or bills that you cannot just skip a month's pay to someone). Club hygiene and staff training not taken seriously enough, too much focus on the latest marketing blahblah from head office and not enough on safety procedures.

    Advice to Management

Having had a "look in the kitchen" so to speak, I would never pay the substantial membership fees you charge customers and would advise people against joining as members let alone as staff. Stop moving managers around so much, move away from the Apple-inspired happy-clappy nonsense and start working on and for the people (staff and members).

    Pros

Easy enough to get days off
Most of the other staff are nice
As a student the job worked

    Cons

    No progression
    Limited social aspect to work
Regularly called at 6:30am because the rota wasn't done properly and they needed someone to come in
Lack of value toward they're employees
Wages are minimum they can pay without having to actually admit you'll be on minimum wage
After graduating the job wasn't what it was promised to be

    Advice to Management

Don't take all the money a club might make away from that club. All the myjourney stuff is good but needs to actually lead somewhere if you do the courses. Encourage more socials, its difficult enough to make plans with outside friends due to the hours that staff are working, it is really depressing having to work 6-7 day weeks at times and then have nothing else to do. Also don't ask someone to help out different departments after they've asked to be trained in how to work in them and never showed what to do.

    Pros

The best things about working for this overated company is the staff and the fact that it's in a gym.

    Cons

The pay is minimum wage. There is no prettying it up, its awful for the amount of work they expect you to do.
You will be expected to teach classes (for free) clean sweaty machines and floors, write programmes for members amongst other things.
Do not expect ANY support from management with issues at work...
    It's just awful.
I had alot of issues with pay and travel, many promises were made and not kept.

    Terrible.

Will be quitting ASAP and probably will just get a job as a dustman, as it would probably be the same with better pay.

    Advice to Management

LISTEN TO THE ISSUES OF THE STAFF AND DO WHAT YOU SAY YOU WILL.

    Pros

Free gym membership (although I never received this - when I enquired they kept saying they would sort it out). Aesthetically pleasing environment to work in with friendly atmosphere

    Cons

Although people are friendly the lower you are in the chain the less valued and respected you are and this becomes obvious

    Pros

The people. Without a doubt that is their number one strength. It's creates a fun atmosphere to work in. I never fear going in to work.

    Cons

The pay is awful. They expect a lot out of the management but with very little reward and this has only got worse in 2014. And whoever recruits for head office need sacking. They have no experience of what it's like in the clubs yet dictate everything we do and are surprised when it fails. Plus their communication is shocking.

    Cons

    Poor pay.
