Pros
Free flights, some good People
Cons
Politics, HR, more Politics, more HR, even more Politics and HR
Advice to Senior Management
Be brave
Pros
You get some great travel perks and there are a lot of good people who work here. The brand still has good name which works well on your CV but not sure how long that will last unfortunately.
Cons
Politics and process. Too much talking the talking rather than walking the walk. Too many "general" managers not enough specialists. Never seen morale so low.
Advice to Senior Management
Directors should be aware of the complete lack of Virgin spirit that exists these days and be concerned that our competitors are running rings around us these days.
Pros
Easy to work there always
Cons
Boring to attend work there
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing
Pros
Virgin Atlantic has a reputation as an innovative company in the airline industry. The brand name is well recognized in and outside the industry and the products consistently win awards. People join for the company's reputation rather than pay.
Cons
The US office is essentially a sales outpost of a UK-based company. There is a low degree of autonomy and no transparency into decisions made in the UK. Senior management in the US has no formal business training so the company often feels like a family-run small business rather than a professional organization that's been around for 25 years. It's operated as such since it was founded so I don't see it changing unless they replace the senior team. Turnover in certain departments is very high because of this.
Advice to Senior Management
C-level executives should spend more time in the US.
Pros
Great airline benefits, great group discounts with tribe card etc. Very prestiguous brand on your CV and you are always guarenteed to raise an eyebrow with headhunters and when applying for new roles.
Great offices and facilities to work around day to day
Cons
Management need to open there eyes and actually talk to staff, I find hundreds of people reactively running about day to day but never actually acheiving anything etc.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate, its not hard and its not going to cost you anything like our expensive contracts with outsourcers does!!!!
Pros
Travel Perks (if their valid to you), flexibilty for time off,
Cons
Little or no feedback from superiors, no choice of perks, low morale, poor IT systems, poor tools to complete my job. New Ideas are not thought through ,with workers usually picking up the pieces. Pay not equal to others in the same sector. Also pay not equal within organisation. Little understanding of my role from other managers.
Advice to Senior Management
more feedback (be it positive or negative). VAA is too afraid to upset staff.
