    Pros

Everyone is very nice, understanding, and patient. Pay for an internship is pretty great.

    Cons

Intern work was not especially challenging and did not provide a lot of opportunity for learning outside of specific internship work.

I have been working at Virginia State Corporation Commission full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible time scheduling depending on supervisor Good Benefits

    Cons

Salary well below private industry Not many opportunities for advancement

    Advice to Management

Replace retiring employees before they leave so you are not short staffed

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

State benefits are ok. Located in Downtown Richmond, if you would like to be there. They have a cafeteria in the building.

    Cons

Management is condescending and thrills in acting as dictators.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the mentality that people should have no work/life balance. Likewise, stop promoting people to supervisory roles where they abuse their staff. Totally unacceptable. So many people are out due to cancer issues. I am sure it is from the stress at work.

I worked at Virginia State Corporation Commission as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Learned how to use financial software, first time working in a team-oriented office environment, first time working full-time, great people, did something that helped people

    Cons

had to do a lot of intern stuff (scanning) and often had no assignments, understand that the salaries for employees is not great, computer was outdated and slow

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Virginia State Corporation Commission full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay was wonderful! Experience was worth it. Wonderful Management (who I still speak with, and she is very helpful and encouraging)

    Cons

They did not conduct interviews so I think some of the people they chose as interns were not professional enough for the job. Sometimes all of the management team were not on the same page, which can be frustrating. Sometimes there also could be alot of downtime which could get boring.

    Advice to Management

You guys rock, keep it up!

There is a trade-off in pay, but it still is pretty competitive. Bureacracy at times can get frustrating.
