I have been working at Virginia Tech full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They have a good and innovative environment. The location is really nice and the pay is generous for a graduate research assistant.

    Cons

Things are a bit slow and they have problems managing the projects. It's not very close to industry since it is located in a small town in the middle of no where.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The transportation system must be reviewed and upgraded. Project management should be enhanced to rich better research results and make innovation faster.

I worked at Virginia Tech (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Engineering school is pretty good and well ranked. Most of the companies hiring on campusare linked to federal contracts

    Cons

If you are looking for big city employers, there maybe a lack of those, most of the big city ones coming mostly from DC

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some of the departments are good if you are inclined to go for internship during your graduate studies. These would include electrical and computer science but others which are more into traditional engineering majors are not as good

    Pros

very nice and innovative atmosphere. lots of interesting things happening on a day to day basis but old school type of building for mechanical engineering (updated now)
