I have been working at Virginia Tech part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Graduate student salaries are competitive and in line with the cost of living in the area. Leadership in my department is extremely supportive of graduate students. The university overall is supportive of graduate education as well.

    Cons

Funding for research and travel can be a challenge, although this is likely the result of the national attitude toward research funding, not a product of the university itself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Become more environmentally friendly on campus, forget about the money that comes from the mining engineers and look at the bigger picture. Set an example for the rest of the state even though we aren't in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

    Pros

You are exposed to alot of different technology, that you get the chance to be hands on with and test out as you feel necessary

    Cons

There isn't much room for advancement, or promotion in the university. What you with as your position and salary will not change much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
