I have been working at Virtusa full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of offerings & good clients

    Cons

Chaos at every turn. Management acquires companies and doesn't learn the business. Struggles to integrate & instead, intimidates. Poor culture and no room for advancement. Poor understanding of sales and relationship management. Internal systems are poor and there is so much red tape, it makes the DMV seem like it' efficient in comparison. So much pressure on few while 70% of the firm slacks off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get to know the performers. Look at who is really driving business. Talk to the staff and get out into the population of employees.

I have been working at Virtusa full-time

    Pros

Good place for the first two weeks, unfortunately not the same company as it used to be apparently.

    Cons

there is extreme beaurocracy here, limited pay, dull back office work, the VP is not right for the job - he might as well come to work in his pajamas with the way he dresses, Little room for learning, especially since acquisition, senior management doesn't dress for the job and doesn't connect with employees the way they should to allow for transparency

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

redesign management team, develop internal talent, stop keeping employees out of important business decisions, stop with the exclusivity of senior management, make employees feel valued and empowered, PAY BETTER, Better bonuses, better promotions, better unity, better job.

US Company with 3rd world work culture

I worked at Virtusa full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you are aggressive and have street smartness of a third world country to circumvent the systems you may become very successful in the company

    Cons

    >The company spends very little money on training its staff in US
    >Because it is small company presence at any client is small (some big clients are exception to the rule) so there is absolutely no mentoring available as you may be the only person at the site.
    > Most people at Virtusa are playing a stretch role so they suck at their current position even if they are talented, leading to chaos at every function. This comment is valid for the executive team as well
    > The yearly review process is completely broken; some issues are:
-The supervisors are not close to their reportees performance
    - The written reviews are not enforced by the company, the employees most often end up with a grade (which in itself makes the employees feel like a juvenile) for the quarterly/yearly review with almost no support for it
-Promotions are mostly based on tenures and whoever asks first and not as a reward for performance or recognition of employees potential
-If and when you get promoted don't expect a raise
    > Just like a third world country a class system exist within the company, for example depending on whether you are an employee of Virtusa India or US you may be put in a different hotel

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

instead of bringing Asian work culture to US, embrace the progressive ethos of the local culture. Treat employees with respect, spend on their development, focus on bringing real value to you clients.

    - The technical knowledge you acquire while working is tremendous.
    - Will get great support from management.
    - Provide enough opportunities for growth, will get chance to learn and work on multiple domains and technologies
    - Lot of entertainment activities which provide the relief and refreshment to employees.

    Cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Please scale up and automate the employee management application so that we as a company can manage better and grow faster. Please improve all internal applications.
    - Have seen the degradation on quality of resources. Please establish strong recruitment process and guidelines.
