Pros
big brand name, and outsiders may think it's very glorious to work there
Cons
the system of the company is a mess, and most ppl work there are unhappy. management is short-sighted, no career development support
Pros
Challenging, rewarding, Good Salary, Flexible, Opportunity to learn
Cons
Very Busy, lots of work in IT,
Advice to Senior Management
Keep rewarding standout employees
Pros
Brand name
Looks great on resume
Cons
Bureaucratic
Most departments work in silos
Left arm doesnt know what right arm is doing
Advice to Senior Management
Tough times ahead. Unless you are aggressive, you might lose the competitive advantage very soon
Pros
Decent benefits, good people, good work-life balance. Visa tries to stay innovative and is constantly growing which provides more opportunities for employees. Transfers to other locations are sometimes available or encouraged.
Cons
Despite much lip service paid to changing, Visa oprates in silos. It can be hard to get needed information, money for projects can wither away. Communication is poor from the top down. Visa is very big in outsourcing resulting in job loss for long time workers.
Advice to Senior Management
Management is too far removed from the workplace, with a CEO who refuses to even come to the workers, to develop a sense of where projects are or which way the wind is blowing. If the economy changes they will have to step up to keep competent workers.
Pros
Good global brand name recognition
Cons
Questionable management, highly political, bureaucratic, process driven.
Advice to Senior Management
Try again
Pros
The benefits are very good.
Cons
There is a total lack of respect from management in this operations area. They are impolite, over-demanding, and have very unreal expectations. Creativity is completely stifled and there is no joy in the job whatsoever. It's a sweatshop. They ask you to learn something and say take your time, and then wonder why tickets aren't done. The process is the most important part, not the quality of work.
Advice to Senior Management
Lighten up! Ask people to do things instead of demanding of them. Don't set up the employees for failure. There is a lot of pressure in the job anyway, don't make it worse by constantly bombarding employees with new tools to learn and expect it to be implemented right away. Ask your employees in one-on-ones how they are doing in general. Take care of them!
Pros
Great brand
Some terrific people to work with
Good benefits and salary
Cons
Too much bureaucracy, senior management is out of touch with reality and doesn't display a desire to know what is happening. There is a palpable feeling of unwillingness to take risks in order to become more efficient and grow the company. There is a lot of cronyism, politics are rampant. It is definitely a place where who you know is more important than what you know or what you can do.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to change senior management with innovative and strategic thinkers. Actually listen to your staff - be involved.
Pros
Great benefits and pay is pretty good. Visa is a great brand and has a solid reputation in the payments industry.
Cons
The inter-personal dynamics would make a psychologist cringe, but on paper and to Wall Street, Visa looks great. The amount of employees compared to profits makes the company look lean. Company is so big, it's literally impossible to get something done unless you have senior management endorsement and that's really difficult given most of senior management are tucked away in the ivory tower in San Francisco.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide more forums for team collaboration and lead by example. The message being sent is the elite few are only worth senior management's time-it's particularly challenging if you are under a manager that can't communicate his or her team's accomplishments upward.
Pros
Some great people working hard in a tough environment. Exciting work. Good benefits.
Cons
The company has the potential to be great, but not under current Leadership team. Many positions are held by unqualified friends of the CEO.
Advice to Senior Management
Leave.
Pros

Advice to Senior Management
