I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay, decent benefits. Interesting work. Some cutting edge technology.

    Cons

Agree with other comments about sr mgt. if you work for a powerful group and are one of the favorites of a given manager, life at Visa is good. For everyone else it's a struggle - lots of behind the scenes passive aggressive behavior to cause projects to fail or be cancelled after a lot of work and money spent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better project approval and control up front to ensure vision is clear and projects are aligned with corporate goals.

I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Two to one 401 matching plus pension plan. You get to work on different technologies. Good work/life balance. The brand is strong and most employees feel pride in the global reach of the company.

    Cons

Too many red tapes. Hiring can be made faster, Technology Executives make all hiring decisions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please offer free parking and Visa signage in Bellevue
A cafeteria would be nice along with more perks similar to the Foster City office

I worked at Visa Inc. as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Individual managers make the job. Company is amenable to flexible schedule and remote work. Exceptionally talented individuals and expanding technology make the environment interesting and challenging.

    Cons

The constant shuffling of mid and upper management every 3 months, shifting priorities. The "new" executive has thier plan which they begin to implement- usually changing the focus and course if the projects under them... then as regular as the sun rising- approxmentaly 3-6 months later, the "new" person would be replaced with a new "new" manager and the process would start over again... all the middle managers would start scurrying to save their jobs and the worker bees at the bottom would have to deal with yet another shift in "vision", "goals" and priorities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find someone and stick with them... don't change management and focus every 3 months.

I worked at Visa Inc. as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Great pay, friendly people, great new office in Austin, TX, they really care about trying to please their interns,

    Cons

Wasn't placed on a good team based on my interests, didn't have a team - only a boss to report to, not too many intern events within Austin.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

more training for interns and get to know their boss before working with them.

Wonderful change in the form of facilities and candid and open dialogue.

    Cons

To much change too fast can break the back of a great company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lack of appreciation and respect of individuals is palatable. Humility and wisdom comes from understanding oneself show it sometimes.

They try to sell Visa as a "technology" company, but it's not really... it's pretty old school.

I worked at Visa Inc. as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Nice onsite gym
    - Farmer's Market Fridays
    - There are good people there who want to do well and succeed
    - Trying to bring in new, innovative talent
    - Legacy and has a product used by EVERYONE

    Cons

    - So much bureaucracy, hierarchy, and red tape
    - No innovation (i.e., "it's been this way for 15 years, so why change?" mentality)
    - Hard to get anything done, needs to go through so many people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

New, innovative talent wants the free food, social events, and to feel like they are contributing to part of a community.

    Pros

    - Get Brand Name
    - Good Pay
    - Good Benefits

    Cons

    - Too many Cilos
    - Mediocre to very poor Middle/Senior Management and Leadership. Most have risen in the rank who have no clue to management. They tend to be micro managers and unable to provide mentor-ship, leadership and direction. They get lost in the minutiae.
    - Very hard to progress. Talent management sucks and there is no career path.
    - There is no concept of People Management.
    - People are too caught up in titles and ego clashes.
    - No work-life balance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Remove the multiple tiered hierarchy in the organization.
    - Eliminate bureaucracy and politics
    - Revamp talent management to truly ensure you are tapping internal talent.
    - Empower the employees

I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Very ethical company that holds employees to similar high standards. Salary and benefits are competitive, although we've seen a decline (over the years) of the 401(k) match and annual salary increases are almost non-existent. Enormous opportunity to continue the decades of success...just need the right management in place and an appreciation for employees that are not recent college grads. IMHO, Visa is extremely diverse company - at least for those in the CA offices.

    Cons

Serious decline in employee satisfaction since new CEO came on board. He and the president he brought in micro-manage leadership...it is there way or the highway. For a technology company you'd think the employee tools would be top notch - NOT - employees have to operate with pong-era technology to get things done. Award shares continue to decline as does the annual recognition increases, yet the CEO's income reported at $24 million (all-in). CEO is rude to employees that dare to question what is said at all-staff meetings and paints employee satisfaction as rosy when it is anything but.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Charlie needs a serious attitude adjustment when it comes to dealing with the average employee. Demeaning them in all-staff meetings when they ask a question he doesn't like will further alienate him with the employee population. Charlie isn't the only issue but if he treats his leadership the way we've seen him treat employees at all-staff meetings, than that is probably why the next level of management is doing the same. Separately, college grads are not the answer for everything!

I have been working at Visa Inc. full-time

    Pros

They have a lot of growth opportunities within the company. I would also say that they raise you 5% of your salary every year depending on your role. Now, based on how you perform you can expect a higher percentage based on your contributions to the company, ex. training team members on a new trade, years with the company, they give you company stock, which by the way is at $215 a share which is nice ect. So what I'm trying to say is that's it's a company you won't find easily in South Florida.

    Cons

I would say the cons are higher ups higher managers with absolutely no intelligence once so ever. But hey that's in every company right.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would say my advice to management is to learn some common sense.
