    Pros

Working at Siliconix for the past 19 years has been wonderful. The people I've met and worked with was great and the job of Equip. Maint. Specialist has been rewarding and fulfilling. The pay, benefits are good

    Cons

Vishay will be shutting down Siliconix at the latter of 2015 or early in 2016. I'll miss working at Siliconix and with all the wonderful people.

    Advice to Management

Please take care of all the hard working people that made Siliconix what it is today.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Vishay Siliconix full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I was able to work a professional level job on a part-time basis. The management was very accommodating and flexible.

    Cons

When Siliconix was bought out by Vishay, things changed from being a small company atmosphere to a more rigid large company environment.

    Advice to Management

Try to bring back some of the way things were in the pre-Vishay days.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Well experienced senior staff people. Everyone is ready to help when stuck.

    Cons

Still using really old technology No bonuses even if you are senior. Too much micromanaging. No stocks for regular employees, only meant for top 10% of the total head count of the company.

    Advice to Management

Start rewarding people for what they do for the company.

  10. Helpful (1)

    Not so friendly work environment.

I have been working at Vishay Siliconix full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company has strict principles on the quality of their semiconductor devices. HR is easy is deal with, and they are friendly.

    Cons

Senior engineers don't respect new or junior engineers. They don't want to share knowledge with the new hires. People from different departments are pointing fingers to each other. This company has poor upper management. They want to hire as many temporary engineers as they could without ever considering transitioning them to permanent positions. Department heads don't realize there is a learning curve for new hires, and they want the new hires to do perfect jobs.

    Advice to Management

Be willing to make temporary hires to permanent positions if they have the talents the company needs. Saving money by limiting this transition would only make people leave this company, and that would slow down the company operations.
