    Pros

Rapidly changing sector and a business that is passionate about influencing that change. Customer-focused. International company with opportunity to work abroad and / or work with colleagues from around the world.

    Cons

Pace of change can be challenging. Pace of growth forcing business and many positions to become more corporate wrt performance reviews, data management, administration, etc..

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on the value proposition and commit to being the world class provider of it.

    Pros

Interesting work; technology wasn't bad for a market research company; Canadian company so offered slightly better benefits than other major US companies might.

    Cons

Specific to the SF office, the management was very rigid in terms of people being silo'd in their roles; cared more about your butt in the seat; no flexibility to excel in your areas of expertise; weird small office culture.

    Advice to Management

Change the office culture in the SF office and don't be so silo'd in your thinking of employees skills.

    Pros

Work with some great people, on some fun accounts

    Cons

No common definition of job responsibilities across the same titles.

    Advice to Management

Pay competitively and fairly. I know RMs who make 15K more than me and do 50% less work than me... something doesn't seem right there.

    Pros

Some really nice people as co-workers

    Cons

Senior management flip-flopping constantly on priorities and direction - poor communication from the top down. When directives change (which is constant), people are so brainwashed that it no longer phases anyone that the goals have just reversed - it's just business as usual.

Culture of fear is persuasive - everyone is afraid for their jobs. I quote "When you are having a conversation with anyone up the food chain, you should behave like you are interviewing for your job" - nice! Have heard from current employees that they are jealous of those laid off because they have been able to put it behind and move on - double nice!

    Advice to Management

    Become human and discover compassion

    Pros

Great career growth opportunities, invests in training programs, innovative and fast-moving, great culture across the offices I have worked in, high performance business and growth momentum

    Cons

Executive management delivering on strategy, been anticipating new product development for a while now

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in your employees, stay on strategy, and continue to develop new products and modules

    Pros

A few very bright people with research experience who are unnecessarily undervalued to protect the ego of those in senior positions who lack research and/or math experience or ability.

    Cons

For young professionals looking for a career in research, this may not be the best environment. More of a boiler room mentality to churn out rudimentary analyses to hasten the booking of revenue.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on the customer and less on cashing out through a "liquidity event".

    Pros

    Company with high growth potential.
Some departments reward employees with impressive job titles which can be used as a springboard to higher level roles elsewhere.

    Cons

The organization changes are incredibly frequent and poorly communicated.
    Nepotism is rather obvious.
Using job titles rather than salary or performance bonuses or employee equity to retain people results in a company with an incredible number of VP's and Directors

    Advice to Management

    Better communicate the strategy

    Pros

It's a good place to build up entry-level research skills. People are generally friendly, and good to work with.

    Cons

The work gets repetitive fast. The firm's bread and butter is in attitudes and usage studies, and the average project timeline is around 2 weeks. No analytics and almost no qualitative studies. If you want to do a variety of research work, you won't find it here.
We worked almost exclusively around the proprietary software, which wasn't that great when I was there. I hope they've started using something else. I found I used mostly SPSS and Excel when I was there.

This firm is a market research technology firm...I don't think it's that invested in its market research consultancy arm however. Good for software engineers, not so great for market researchers.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your market researchers when building out your software.

    Nice people to work with.
    Working from home allowed.
    Decent pay...

    Cons

Management changes its mind on things on a weekly basis
    Room for growth is dubious
Quite a few layoffs because they haven't a clue the direction they want from week to week

    Pros

Advancement and training opportunities, some flexibility with being able to work on projects you're most interested in. For US employees, health, dental, and vision insurance 100% covered.

    Cons

Little work/life balance, often necessitating work during after hours, weekends, and holidays. Pay seems to be a little below the market. Also little job security--turnover rate was quite high, both due to layoffs/firings as well as voluntary resignations.
