I worked at Vistaprint as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

For Intern: Great visibility into the decision-making process, treated like a full employee rather than just a part-time intern, will give you the correct amount of real-world experience without overwhelming you with the workload, will not give you "busy-work" as some other internships do.

In General: Awesome company culture - polo and jeans is acceptable attire and there are lot's of young, fun people who like to hang out with each other in and out of work; Also, most of the managers support a flexible schedule and allow you to come and go as you please without dealing with taking PTO hours unless you're taking a full day off

    Cons

No full-time offer guarentee, unsure about the company's future as the world goes digital and print, specifically business cards, become less popular...

I have been working at Vistaprint full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Vistaprint is a stable, billion dollar company that is shifting focus to the customer after years of neglecting the user experience in favor of quick profits. Finally this is being addressed. They provide very good compensation and a flexible work environment.

    Cons

For two years now we've experienced mid-level management confusion, and have weathered constant re-orgs. There is a lack of visible leadership. While I have respect for the top-level management, there is a lack of clear top down management.

Smart people, but too much process and hidden politics

I worked at Vistaprint full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very smart people. If you're analytical and data driven, you'll get exposed to lots of new ways of looking at the business. Free drinks and food every Friday afternoon.

    Cons

Too much process in everything. Even something as simple as filling out an employee survey has a process that you must follow for completing the survey. Great for young people that haven't been exposed to other company cultures. Not so great if you have any enterpreneurial inclinations or like to do things fast.

The hidden politics were unbelieveable. It was like a soap opera with people complaining to senior managers about another person without discussing the issues with that person first. With all these smart people there were also lots of high maintenance personalities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open to evolving the culture and changing the senior managers that have been there forever.

I worked at Vistaprint full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Smart people. Entrepreneurial atmosphere. Free beer and pizza on Fridays. Cool marketing.

    Cons

The poster child for The Peter Principle. Too many people hired who are not trained or capable of being effective managers/leaders. Lot of turnover, which management seems oblivious to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come down from the glass tower, breath the air, and remind yourself that happy employees will translate to happy shareholders. Invest money in upgrading the internal technology.

I have been working at Vistaprint full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay, People, Location, anything I should list about the company are pros.

    Cons

Maybe the reputation. (compare to Google). When I started, some of my friends confused that if the company has anything to do with Microsoft's Windows Vista. Now they have TV Commercials and I believe that it's not a con anymore.

I worked at Vistaprint full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - somewhat modern company
    - there's some good pockets of team within the company that are technology intensive and a great place to be in
    - Great place to be in if you like product development, product management or marketing

    Cons

    - Heavy politics, lots of white men with huge egos been here more than 5 years and ruling their capabilities
    - Limited freedom of opinion

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please ensure some of your middle management in capabilities are eliminated for a better organization

I have been working at Vistaprint full-time

    Pros

    - great people at the lower levels
    - beer on Fridays
    - good benefits (dental, 401k)

    Cons

    - managers don't necessarily have a lot of experience managing people and helping with your career
    - has become very corporate feeling
    - company doesn't care about charity

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your eyes. Stop protecting people who shouldn't be here and get some managers in marketing who know what they are doing.

I worked at Vistaprint full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Very relaxed atmosphere and culture
In Capabilities most managers leave employees to their work so rarely is someone breathing down your neck
Flex hours and unlimited sick days / remote opportunities.
Free food and other random perks
Depending on the group, you have lots of freedom to try your own projects as long as they help the company in some way.
Pay is about average for the Boston area.

    Cons

There are politics that exist between groups and certain teams definitely feel they are "superior" to other groups. Difficult to get help across teams when other people are never willing to buy-in.

The company does not handle low or under performing employees well. Other team members end up carrying the weight.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is going through lots of reorgs so there has been turnover across all levels. The future strategy seems good, but there is a lot of hard work to get there. Expect to see some coming and going while they realign themselves.
