Pros
Excellent Facility, strong heritage from Ford.
Cons
New Management post-Ford has lack of understanding of Visteon products and bad customer relationships
Advice to Senior Management
Improve customer relationships
Pros
Good management team in place now.
Cons
The automotive industry is a tough environment.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good job. Visteon needs to find it's core products and diversify into different industries and expand their customer base.
Pros
During good times the company was an excellent place to work, with opportunity for growth. The Quality of the people and leadership was excellent. The work environment was good, with great consideration
of the work-life balance.
Cons
During the recession and bankruptcy the employee environment was one off fear of loosing your job. People were shuffled around with little consideration of their skills and experience. Benefits were reduced to some extent almost every year from 2008-2010 during the recession. Visteon used to have manufacturing plants in the US, all of these faciities were closed, or sold.
Advice to Senior Management
I realize the last few years have been a tough environment for the automotive industry as a whole, but to not manufacture any components in the US is not a good choice for the communities that rely on manufacturing jobs, and the people who lost or are going to lose their jobs. Many other other automotive component companies were able to survive the recession and keep a manufacturing base the US.
Pros
Good benfits and worklife balance
Cons
Job insecurity, weak managment focus, financial concerns
Advice to Senior Management
Instil confidence
Pros
Flexible worklife balance allows employees to work from home on occasion. Reviews typically judge results and not only effort. Central location allows collaboration.
Cons
Bankruptcy has been a threat for more than 5 years, and decisions seem to be singularly made with that in mind. Hesitant to invest in anything with a payback longer than 12 months. Several private equity firms have an interest and it's hard to tell whether the company is in it for the long run or whether it will strip and flip.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more honest with shareholders and employees about long-term plans. Will emegence from bankruptcy signal a back to normal attitude or not?
Pros
Some groups are better than others. I had a very flexable start time. Just had to stay consistent.
Cons
There needed to be more training made available.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow more cross movement between groups; Provide more access to training.
Pros
Truly global company
Talented Technical Resources
Nice Facilities for offices and research
Flexibility in work schedule, excellent support for working offsite
Cons
Poor decision making by most senior management
Lacks a clear definition of their preferred future state
Focus on month to month and quarterly performance
No value given to future business and product development
Advice to Senior Management
Understand what you are really competitive in, and focus on those products, not the ones you used to make at another company
Pros
Clean work place and good coffee
Cons
No Future for employees here
Advice to Senior Management
Quit
Pros
Good benefits and pleasant working environment. Have been there 12 years would not be leaving if it was not for bad economy.
Cons
Have had to take pay cuts. No raises in the past 3 years due to poor economy. Work constantly and travel all the time with no time off. Want me to work during my vacation time
Advice to Senior Management
They need to take care of the employees that go out of there way to do things for them. The ones that will do any volunteer for any job that need to be done.
Pros
Good experience to work on a global purchasing team. Sometimes communication is an issue and you get caught up in too much fire fighting, but a good experience.
Cons
Constant cost cutting demoralized the workforce. Left with a lot of people that are too protective of their jobs and dont want to contribute.
Advice to Senior Management
Make strategic decisions that include the employees. Outsourcing is not always the answer. Utilize the talents of the existing workforce
