I worked at Vistex full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Product is used by many top companies. Flagship product provides unique skill set for employees, which can be leveraged even after leaving the company.

    Cons

Unethical in their approach to the customers. Exaggerate the work needed to meet customer 's requirements. Unethical in their approach towards employees. Exploit employees and contracts to the hilt, while paying low salaries. Difficult to maintain work life balance. Management is not open to product improvement suggestions. Contractors are expected to work on release testing without expecting any compensation. Would not recommend the company to anybody. Better to be an independent contractor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide better care for employees. Improve customer focus. Provide solutions that actually help customers not just increase your billing.

    Plenty of opportunity exists elsewhere.

I worked at Vistex full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Depending on which deparmtent you gravitate towards, it's (for the most part) a family environment provided you were part of the early Vistex days. They have an annual employee recognition program, average benefits, and plenty of friendly faces around the globe. Vistex is a great name to have on a résumé.

    Cons

Tough place to balance work and personal life as many positions require long hours & dedication to the company. Upper management frowns upon telling them your vacation plans two to three months out. Meetings start & end late so nothing is accomplished on time. Don't be surprised when work creeps into weekends and throughout holidays. Big language barrier exists between U.S. & overseas employees. Travel & out-of-pocket expenses are a burden for reimbursement since every penny is closely watched by the owner. There is high turnover not to mention 99% of the employed still wonder what their role is after being hired. Jobs end up leaving the employees instead of vice versa which opens a whole new can of worms. Training courses can be gruesome due to a not-so-well-coached instructor. Very little chance of being promoted due to an unorganized structure of managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pointless to advise management as they have reached their goals in life. Instead, current employees thinking of a job change should most certainly do so and work for a company that values your contributions verses questioning your abilities.

I worked at Vistex full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

the only pro's to think of are a paycheck every two weeks (if you can call that low pay a paycheck)

    Cons

I could write a book on the con's for working for Vistex, but i'll try to keep it short and sweet. Let me start with management or lack there of. There are people who have tenured into certain positions that literally have no management training and it shows in spades. They act very unprofessional and like the previous poster explained "do the owners bidding". It is 100% the most boring place to work on the planet. When you go interview look at the people around you walking around and not just at the management that are cooing you to come work for them for pennies. You will see one common factor and that is no one smiling (other than overpaid managers who couldn't get a job anywhere else). Think about how you want to spend your days literally locked to your cubical. Do not even think about training as you will get none (even if it is a new platform being deployed you will be expected to learn it on your own on the fly). Expect to work your fingers to the bone and get no credit for it as that is reserved for management. I have to say 100% that going to work for them for the short time that i did was the most horrible experience of my life and the second i had a chance to jump off the ship titanic i did. My advice to a future person considering employment here is if you can't find a job working at 7-11 then perhaps this is the job for you, otherwise run don't walk to the door and seek employment elsewhere. Heed the warnings that others are putting up here as they are true. I see some positive comments on here, but from my experience none of the people that i had daily interactions with had any sense of happiness or felt that this was a "Great place to work". The place is a high turn around company as people have choices to go elsewhere to a better work environment. The best way to explain the mentality of this company is that you should be thankful and kiss the ground that they walk on for giving you a job and forget about having a real life as it should be dedicated 100% to them not your family. Think about that for a minute and let it sink in as there are other companies who relish talented individuals and treat them like gold and those are the ones that prosper. In this day and age of information technology it doesn't take much for people to find another position and at the rate these guys are going they will soon deplete the talent pool resources in that location (maybe that is why they have so many H1 Visa workers??)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If there were any reputable management to give advice to i would, but since none are competent it would be falling on deaf ears

I worked at Vistex full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

You get a paycheck every two weeks and you get medical and dental benefits. It should be looked at as a layover to a real job.

    Cons

Where would i start. Low Pay, overworked like crazy, Management is clueless especially the IT department. Systems constantly crashing, Managers with ZERO training running the show, because they do the owners bidding. HR is a joke to say the least. The owner rubs nickels together hoping that they will produce a dollar. Low pay for employees while the owner jet's around the globe. The employee base is primarily indian which is fine, but you do not base a company off of H-1 Visa's. This is most definately the most boring place i've ever worked. The management has the owners ear and can do no wrong. If he only knew how badly management has been screwing up he would probably fire the lot of them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advise to management is to get some training and act professional to your employee's. Whilst you think you walk on water you are easily replaceable and are one major failure away from getting knocked from your perch (which i personally think is coming round the corner). There is no growth unless you consider growth being overworked to the bone and not getting any thanks for it. Management needs to recognize the employees whose shoulders they constantly ride on..otherwise my feeling is employees will set them up purposely for failure to jettison them from the company. Only when management (specifically IT) is removed will you see some positive changes and maybe the IT dept will not look like a revolving door at Macy's.
