    Pros

Ability to work in NYC with a group of smart young talented people from a respectable selection of schools. Being in NYC gives you great exposure and ability to apply to real tech companies.

    Cons

Compensation is low, processes are fundamentally broken, work is tedious, management is a bunch of well paid yes men, product is outdated, hours are sporadic and long (expect a lot of hurry up and wait) -- this is not a place to grow your career.

Vitech manages to attract intelligent recent grads due to the poor job economy. After a year or two these people smarten up and leave. Unfortunately, in that time, no real skills are cultivated, however the years of "experience" help when finding a new job.

A word of caution to anyone considering Vitech - if you can do better, it would be in your best interest to do so.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't assume you know it all, listen to your people in the trenches. They understand the issues better than you do.

Great Tech team but atrocious Management (Top)

    Pros

Great Technical learning experience, very complex product - terrific place to learn. Technical team is great and very helpful and generally friendly. Will learn a lot about delivering an enterprise level product. The technological stack is getting a bit dated though. So if you are on H1B and want to hang on to a company that will survive for the next few - you have arrived at the right place. If you are GC/citizen then make sure you get good money as you will be working long hours - i mean really long.

    Cons

Top Mangement no longer believes in the technical strength of their product. No effort to keep the product current ( not talking cutting edge but barely current). More emphasis on selling the product to new customers. They have also discovered outsourcing to india so probably so there hangs a question mark for those joining US team but great for India team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since you happen to be in Benefits industry please consider proving excellent benefits to employees.

I have been working at Vitech Systems Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Nice start-up mentality for a mid-sized company that's been around for about 20 years.
    - Managers are extremely busy but most of them put in the effort to make sure their employees and their interests are taken care of.
    - Great work/life balance.
    - There is always work to be done where you can showcase your knowledge, expertise and hard work to your team(s) and client(s).
    - Vitech is the leader in a very stable niche market.

    Cons

    - Not many networking/social events within the company to build a sense of corporate community.
    - Employee training could be a more formalized process.
    - No 401K match from the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is doing a better job at keeping its employees up-to-date with the strategy and business development of Vitech -- this transparency is great and I'd recommend that management continues to do this. Try to host/plan more team events to keep employees happy.

I have been working at Vitech Systems Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Consistent hours and stable work when on a project
    - Opportunity to learn the SDLC/Implementation Life-cycle
    - Decent base salary (but terrible raises and laughable bonuses)

    Cons

The positive reviews on here are clearly written by the HR department and it would a disservice not to warn potential employees about this place. It's easy to identify the legitimate reviews.

Carefully read through the other reviews here, the negative ones are accurate. Senior management was all promoted internally. This is sometimes a good thing, but seeing as these people had no management experience and received no training (no MBA's here), they are essentially all just "yes" men to the CEO/Founder.
People have left this company in flocks over the past few years, including those who helped build it. The people who remain are there either because they need a work visa or are new hires, just out of school.

This is a guarantee: You will only get a decent raise/bonus if you threaten to leave. Don't forget the terrible benefits: no 401k match, etc

Also, when you are prepared to leave Vitech, rest assured, the HR department will find your resume, alert the management, and you're in for a LONG discussion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Anyone who worked here knows Senior Management doesn't listen to the employees

Autonomy, adaptability, challenging work, lax environment, decent pay, solid product.

    Cons

No accountability, occasional laziness from team members, unnecessary push-back on enhancements

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start holding employees responsible for laziness and incompetence. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.

I worked at Vitech Systems Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Good compensation.
    - Some really good people.

    Cons

    - Very poor product quality. Frequent product upgrades introduced significant bugs into product code.
    - Executive management has very little experience outside of Vitech. Little to no fresh perspectives come in from the outside at the executive level.
    - Poor staffing management. Engagements were consistently understaffed to maximize profit. This resulted in slips in schedule, overworked client team and ultimately a dissatisfied client.
    - Little to no reinvestment in staff (e.g. training, tuition reimbursement).
    - Very poor work/life balance. You're expected to be constantly "on", including vacations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Bring in a former management consulting executive to oversee all operations. Company could be run much tighter and bring in more profitability (as well as increase reputation).
    - Bring in a very senior Product Manager who is actually empowered to control the product roadmap. This would significantly stabilize the product and provide much needed insight into planned features for staff members and clients.
