I worked at Vitech Systems Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    (1) Many of your colleagues are smart, hardworking, and dedicated individuals.
    (2) The core technologies are Oracle (PL/SQL), Java, Hibernate, Spring, Tapestry, etc. So, if you love web applications on this technology stack, you'd like it, at least from the technical perspective.
    (3) Depending on your position and geographic region, this company's compensation is mostly reasonably competitive.

    Cons

    (1) This company does not value employees and their loyalty. When people left after more than a decade of service, its management did not even bother to send an email.
    (2) A few years ago, this company stopped its 401(k) match program.
    (3) When they quietly let go people, in a few cases, the management made the process unnecessarily unpleasant for the individual(s).
    (4) Resource management/sharing amongst different teams has always been a challenge. Different groups/projects withheld information from each other, and middle management spent lots of time and energy fighting for resources.
    (5) Project management is not one of this company's fortes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    (1) Value people, not just the bottom line.
    (2) Establish a formal board of directors.
    (3) Reinstate the 401(k) match program.

I have been working at Vitech Systems Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Consistent hours and stable work when on a project
    - Opportunity to learn the SDLC/Implementation Life-cycle
    - Decent base salary (but terrible raises and laughable bonuses)

    Cons

The positive reviews on here are clearly written by the HR department and it would a disservice not to warn potential employees about this place. It's easy to identify the legitimate reviews.

Carefully read through the other reviews here, the negative ones are accurate. Senior management was all promoted internally. This is sometimes a good thing, but seeing as these people had no management experience and received no training (no MBA's here), they are essentially all just "yes" men to the CEO/Founder.
People have left this company in flocks over the past few years, including those who helped build it. The people who remain are there either because they need a work visa or are new hires, just out of school.

This is a guarantee: You will only get a decent raise/bonus if you threaten to leave. Don't forget the terrible benefits: no 401k match, etc

Also, when you are prepared to leave Vitech, rest assured, the HR department will find your resume, alert the management, and you're in for a LONG discussion.

    Cons

Working remotely at the client site puts your career advancement at a disadvantage. You are not on managements radar.

    Pros

Autonomy, adaptability, challenging work, lax environment, decent pay, solid product.

    Cons

No accountability, occasional laziness from team members, unnecessary push-back on enhancements

This company is on the rise, especially with the dependency of modern technology/software in the business world. It is growing in terms of employees and going globally rapidly.

I worked at Vitech Systems Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Good compensation.
    - Some really good people.

    Cons

    - Very poor product quality. Frequent product upgrades introduced significant bugs into product code.
    - Executive management has very little experience outside of Vitech. Little to no fresh perspectives come in from the outside at the executive level.
    - Poor staffing management. Engagements were consistently understaffed to maximize profit. This resulted in slips in schedule, overworked client team and ultimately a dissatisfied client.
    - Little to no reinvestment in staff (e.g. training, tuition reimbursement).
    - Very poor work/life balance. You're expected to be constantly "on", including vacations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Bring in a former management consulting executive to oversee all operations. Company could be run much tighter and bring in more profitability (as well as increase reputation).
    - Bring in a very senior Product Manager who is actually empowered to control the product roadmap. This would significantly stabilize the product and provide much needed insight into planned features for staff members and clients.

I have been working at Vitech Systems Group full-time

    Pros

Vitech probably has the strongest product for its respective verticals and is growing very fast. It will give a lot of responsibility to hard workers. I suspect anyone who has given a low rating didn't make the grade or is sub par.

    Cons

Lacks some of the formal of a much larger company. But that can be good too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep maturing the implementation methodology. Keep up the college graduate new hire program.

    Pros

The culture of the firm focuses on getting the work done, and not so much on who you are, who you know, or how you act. If you're talented you will have a chance to contribute in a variety of capacities

    Cons

Can be locked into a project for several years.

    Pros

Great company as a first job out of college, changing careers in mid stream, or looking to return to your roots with a smaller software firm. If you want to 'make a difference' or 'be empowered' with responsibility, then this company is for you. If you want a cushy 9 to 5 boring job, then call another firm. You will work hard, have fun, and work with real intelligent co-workers. Fast track your career or get off the bus.

    Cons

New York Office decor needs a bit of a spruce up but location can't be beat. Management is focused on quality improvement and what it takes to be leader. Very responsive to changing market conditions.
