fun place to work, but don't stay long

Sales Planner (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at Vivendi Games full-time for more than 3 years

Pros- work life balance
- fun place to work
- laid back work environment

Lots of new products rolling out and the sales team is about 5 years behind on checks and balances so there is no red tape when it comes to creativity.

Cons- management
- compensation compared to industry standardst

Management is strictly out for their own good vs. the well-being of the team

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on keeping the talent you have

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Not a real tech company

Software Engineer (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I worked at Vivendi Games full-time for more than a year

ProsOne of the few big software companies in Los Angeles. Many years ago, before the Silicon Beach, there weren't many options in LA for software developers, FIM was one of the better ones.

ConsThe company culture is closer to movie production studio than real software tech company.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou are doing fine with what you trying to do, just this is not my type of company I want to work for.

decent summer work

QA Tester (Former Employee)
El Segundo, CA

I worked at Vivendi Games as a contractor for less than a year

ProsGreat for college students: summer is prime testing time. Get hired for a project in May/June, it finishes around August/September, just in time to go back to school.

Lots of overtime.

ConsDifficult to continue working through the winter, as very few things go into testing then. Most don't continue through.

Lots of overtime, which you're more or less expected to do.

Mixed

Manager, Business Development (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I worked at Vivendi Games full-time for more than a year

ProsWas an exciting time with plenty of opportunities. Lots of new deals and some great people to work with some of the time

ConsWas a bit bureaucratic with mixed leadership. When things started to go wrong plenty of people were let go or left.

Advice to Senior ManagementNot really relevant

Unstable place to work

Paralegal (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I worked at Vivendi Games full-time for more than 3 years

ProsI enjoyed my work and my co-workers

ConsLayoffs were always imminent due to mismanagement of the company by executives

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a page out of Blizzard's management book and it wouldn't hurt to publish a good game every now and then

Busy, challenging, and a bit crazy

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at Vivendi Games

ProsEntreprenaurial work environment and the chance to make your mark. Great offices, perks, and work life balance. It's nice to work with really smart people.

ConsAlways the possibility of being sold but if you're a hard worker it seems to be easy to get a job elsewhere because of the company reputation. HR is not the best anymore because of a regime change.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep rewarding based on merit and try to inform your staff of what's going on before they read it in the trades. Also get someone with new media experience. It's not cable!
