I have been working at Vlingo as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

    - Excellent sense of teamwork and comradery. Lots of communication.
    - Very fun but very challenging product (S-Voice)
    - Always new things to learn, and new opportunities to make something new
    - Highly talented and passionate managers
    - Lots of office perks

    Cons

    - I suppose there were some growing pains involved as the company was bought by Nuance and had to grow into it: having to lose some great people to the new office, reorganization of some perks, etc. But even then, it didn't feel like some evil corporate take-over.
    - The commute to the city was a little painful for me, but still worth it.
    - The CEO was known to steal people's chairs whenever he felt like it, and never put them back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I'm sure it's tough to get people who have an attachment to "Vlingo" to keep up their morale for the new parent company "Nuance"; just try the best you can.

    I worked at Vlingo

    Pros

Casual setting, great team environment. Nice office in Harvard square. Fun Friday outings with everyone. Company growing quickly and product is useful.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for growth without computer science / IT background, but that's to be expected. Some uncertainty about what will happen to the company in the future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership is great, CEO has excellent communication skills and shares openly with the entire company. Great competitive spirit and desire to galvanize the entire company.
