Advice to Senior Management
Build up a company based on ability to perfrom rather than ability to talk
Pros
working in a leader player in a fast growing and developing business as telco
sharing of deep industry knoledge and capabilites
Cons
limeted oppurtunities for internal growth,
short sighted human resources policies
repetive and boring process
unfari compnesation structure for the lower clusters
Advice to Senior Management
The management shoudl complitely review the internatl growth process. The hiring process is not balanced, evaluation critersia are dark and unfarir
Pros
- Fantastic for the CV
- Good compensation package
- Global opportunities if you are willing to move your family
- Easy to move between roles
Cons
- Difficult to advance to Director level, regardless of performance
- Far too hierarchical and difficult to get exposure to executives
- Culture becoming more and more cut-throat with people succeeding off the work of others
- Decisions are taken too slow and too many hoops to jump through
- Executive management not always pulling in the same direction
Advice to Senior Management
- Decide an approach and be relentless on execution - there should be no local exceptions if you truly believe the path you are following is the right one
- Employees matter as much as shareholders. Without them you have no company. Stop taking away things that are important to individuals for the sake of saving a bit of money here and there
- You have the opportunity to be a truly inspiring force in the industry - seize it!
Pros
It's huge, so there's opportunity to move around and progress into other areas of the business, or different countries. Lots of very capable people in management and technical roles
Cons
sometimes confusing structure, and basic systems and support wasn't great
Advice to Senior Management
focus on managing individuals and their expectations, and collaborate with relevant areas of the business
Pros
Good work life balance
Company financial stability
International activities and projects
Cons
Too much political games
Poor reward/recognition of staff
Advice to Senior Management
Needs to be more inclusive
Award staff employees
Pros
Turning up to work everyday for Vodafone is a great feeling
You feel you can do almost anything
People friendly and helpful
Cons
Political nightmare between Networks & IT departments
Senior Management unbelievably useless, and bullyish
Pay and bonus is a joke if you are under senior management, (Snr mgmt, get 20% bonus vs 5% for standard mgmt, and also get car allowance + large pay gap)
Advice to Senior Management
Advice needs to go to the directors and chair;
-Please stop re-orgs
-Reduce Band F/E management, they are really holding the company back.
-Reward the Band I/H/G more than the F/E...they are after all the ones doing the work.
Pros
global brand
growth sector
innovation
good to have on your cv
Cons
top management a mess
many many reorganisations means nothing ever gets finished
Advice to Senior Management
Stability, pick a path and a team and give both a chance
Pros
Good training for the beginning of career
Cons
Innovative in technology, not really innovative about products & services - everything always rounds about selling traffic
Pros
Work life balance, pragmatic approach
Cons
Benefits package could be better
Advice to Senior Management
Utilize talent and don't make talent fit existing processes
Pros
Stable job (if you can avoid redundancies). Salary and benefits are decent but not amazing. It's an OK name to have on your CV, certainly well known in the telecoms space.
Cons
The company is too big and decisions take too long to be implemented. There is still a lot of resting on laurels of the past (Rollout of 3G?!) The company is still making a lot of money, so there is not a lot of pressure on people to work hard and make good decisions.
Advice to Senior Management
There are too many deadweight managers hanging around and waiting for pensions. This old school mentality is holding back the future of the company. You need to get rid of those who no longer want to be there and promote the passionate managers (if there are any left!)
There is lots of potential to do exciting things but the employees are not motivated to do these things.
