    Pros

One thing I loved most about working at VHA was the endless opportunities for intern and experience work.
I was a sales associate in retail and got to visit different avenues at head office including HR and Marketing which lead me to pursue a career down the track in HR

    Cons

Senior management turnover was extremely high which lead to untrained and little knowledge.

    Pros

Prior to budget cuts: lots of training, therefore improving and developing your existing skill set, ability to provide feedback from bottom up and real results seen, company looking to progress and open to feedback. Head office team are hardworking and dedicated.

    Cons

Progression at store level largely dependent on who you know. Lots of relationships between different levels of management resulting in progression based on who you're dating or who your best friend is in the company. Double standard behavior from management and upper management. Doubt Head Office aware of this situation. Much hard work goes unappreciated and constant calls for help ignored from management.Either oblivious, not suited for management, too young and inexperienced to make good decisions or easier to ignore situation. High performers go unnoticed and when they finally leave, it comes as a shock to upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't turn a blind eye to what's going on in your company. Your good people are getting fed up and walking out the door and becoming assets at other companies. In the meantime, management masks their leaving with mild excuses and justification when the real issue is there's a line to be drawn for how far one will push themselves without reward and appreciation until they finally decide enough is enough and leave.
Much time and money is spent on keeping customers happy (and rightly so) due to network issues that so much more is expected from your store staff who take the heat but then, they receive no thanks and no monetary or non-monetary rewards. Your customers get better treated than your staff that deal with your angry customers.
There is a lot of good to this company too but unfortunately, the bad outweighs the good as it results in greater damage.
Truly hope the company will be in a upward climb resulting from positive changes.

I worked at Vodafone Hutchison Australia as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Interesting, fast-paced environment. Plenty of very good people working there and lots of energy.

    Cons

Very young management team, very reactive and constantly changing direction. Very little discipline or communication between siloed departments. As a contractor it was an interesting place to work but I wouldn't want a permanent job there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in developing better processes and procedures and work on interdepartmental communications. Plenty of buzzwords around and 'shared visions' but no discipline.

    Pros

Pay is good and kind of work life balance is good

    Cons

Project planning and org structure is messy and lots of politics and beureacracy
Same non performers running the show from last decade and they keep coming!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to hire fresh blood to the company and hire some energetic and young people than old hags

    Pros

Pay is great, shift is flexible
And you get to talk to a lot of people
    Release your inhibition!

    Cons

Depends on where they allocate you, the store manager can be a bad person then it would suck

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promoting should be considered as a mean of communication, which is by having "mutual" interest. If you are supermarket to buy grocery but you want to sell phone, who would listen to you

I have been working at Vodafone Hutchison Australia full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Commission is great if you hit target
Company benefits include a free unlimited mobile phone connection
Some employees get free phones during product launches
They pay you to volunteer your time at a charity for a day
Incentives to travel interstate for product launch seminars
    Great training
If you're in your twenties it is a great place to make friends
    Ability to choose own hours
    Good work life balance

    Cons

    Can get repetitive
If sales don't motivate you you will feel quite drained
There is pressure to reach targets
    Cliquey
    Some customers abuse you personally

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Other incentives that are not sales related but customer service orientated would be good. E.g. A customer evaluation form just for repairs. Rewarding employees just for their service

I worked at Vodafone Hutchison Australia full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    At least you're not unemployed.

    Cons

Culture of bullying is deeply ingrained.
Management consists of blame-mongering under achievers with no talent for any facet of the telecoms industry.
Training and career advancement opportunity is extremely limited (depending on how much brown-nosing you're comfortable with.
    Blatant discrimination and clique mentality.
They stole my last month of salary then threatened me with their team of lawyers when I tried to complain.
Severe HR issues, bullying and stalking are covered up. Documents destroyed to cover up evidence.
Completely cynical attitude toward customers. They run a team of 50+ people to flood social networks with totally fake positive comments rather than just hiring a handful of competent people to fix the issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop hiring narcissistic psychopaths.
    Stop lying to customers
    Stop lying to employees
    Stop exploiting 457 visa workers.
Start listening to technically competent people rather than your mates you get drunk with on the company credit card.
Start listening to what the customers want and stop treating them like imbeciles and ripping them off.
Start enforcing the company policies and relevant legislation rather than covering for your incompetent mates.

    Pros

    - Products are easy to sell (competitive price)
    - Good pay for a 'new to the workplace' person (myself)

    Cons

    - Being a cheaper telco attracts lower end customers who sometimes need a lot of time to care
    - Cant really see how I can go further with the career

    Pros

    Some decent hard working people

    Cons

Restructure after restructure the same old faces survive ...they just get new job titles . It's mates looking after mates rather than anything else. Devious management , underhand . Was managed by possibly the worst example of management I have ever had the misfortune of coming across....but typical of the management structure at the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Its been said too many times by too many people who are now assets at competitive organisations. Nothing added here would make any difference .
