    Pros

Co-workers are very nice. Unlike the rest of Vodafone, VTMP still retains low cubes and has not yet gone to LAN tables. Modern building located 2 exits East of Danbury, CT. Head of Vodafone Americas makes appearances periodically for "town hall" meetings and "road shows". Vodafone makes a good effort to keep employees informed about company business. While some teams are working on tough projects and or having staffing issues, much of the office does not stay much after 5pm. Workers are issued nice laptops. Up until the past year had good work-from-home discretion. Work from home is now by manager approval and is generally granted as requested. More accommodating than other large companies regarding family obligations.

    Cons

VTMP is the final form of a merger between two existing smaller telecom expense management companies, and acquired by Vodafone. As such, VTMP is still having some pains from the merger. Many of the co-workers with extended experience are contractors, and therefore are not around for very long. Or, contractors' recommendations have trouble getting seen, let alone considered. VTMP could do more to work on how they work, and create more maintainable products and systems. Job requirements are a little off compared to the actual job. Some skills or software requirements listed are actually not in use nor required. Proprietary and other systems can be a little difficult and quizzical. Internal jargon very different from other companies and industries, and in some cases the telecom industry itself. Some teams experienced frequent management changes. Some of the management does not work at the Connecticut location.

    Advice to Management

Consider being more above-board regarding product limitations with stakeholders. Continue progress on morale initiatives. Pay a little bit more attention to regional needs.

I worked at Vodafone full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large global wireless company with solid presence in Europe. Global sales salaries are good and international travel is a great perk. I found many good people who worked for the company that are still my friends today.

    Cons

Introduction of a Global Product did not met it was global. Usually, it had a "limited roll-out" and we often asked customers to "take the journey with us". Sales credibility be would hurt when a product's "global availability" did not increase or the product went away. Even though it was a wireless company, some new products stood to undermine those revenues and thus had limited distribution and/or capabilities. However, sales was seldom told and had to find out the hard way as were told to "go sell these products." The highly politically charged nature of the management team decimated the organization. Management promoted internal conflict as healthy and those in favor who treated co-workers with disdain were generally overlooked. The organization in a very short time transformed from a trusting, healthy, work life balanced, co-worker friendly workplace to one where distrust, lies and cronyism was rampant.

    Advice to Management

A severe shakeup of Vodafone America's management team is needed to restore trust in the organization.

I worked at Vodafone full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits and PTO, decent coworkers. Can sometimes work from home.

    Cons

Terrible disconnect between different departments, lack of communication. Everyone is overworked and the upper management always talks about how headcount needs to be reduced. Jobs are outsourced often and it is also extremely difficult to get information from other parts of the business.

    Advice to Management

Stop measuring everything by headcount and overloading your workers. Hire backfill if it is needed, think about the customer and not about your huge profit. Actually value your employees instead of outsourcing jobs for cheap and poor quality labor.
