    Pros

    Exciting company to work for.

    Cons

Typical political bureaucracy.. often resulting in employees tramping on one another to move upward.

  3.

Former Employee - Personal Assistant in Bracknell, England (UK)

I worked at Vodafone UK full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible working hours, subsidised gym, local.

    Cons

No internal mobility, no desire to put meaningful PDP in place, very impersonal and in the end left due to little or no real care from the talent team to retain me, despite being a high performer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk the walk rather than just talk the talk, constant changes of CEO leave employees dissatisfied / unsettled and everything became increasingly harder to achieve with systems / red tape

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Suits me as I have experience and dynamic work schedule keeps you fresh.

    Cons

Must be horrific for Grads and inexperienced new starters?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Growth and CPD are there if your engineer the time. Learn deference quickly as senior managers are cosseted both good and bad!,Experienced Hires should go for it, Grads get 2-4 years experience somewhere smaller.

    Pros

    3. Discount on Vodafone contracts

    Cons

    1. Same points as others
    2. Highly unprofessional when management is not present
    3. Work efficiency can be low and a lack of togetherness, instead promted to enter into internal politics

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Faster internal promotions
    2. A thorough training phase
    3. Promote higher number of outside of work activities

I worked at Vodafone UK full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The caliber of people they used to select to be your team mates of coworkers was great.
They actually can give you an opportunity to grow.

    Cons

    A bit too bureaucratic.
You need to strengthen your fist on nepotism a bit more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A bit more effort into enhancing people's careers instead of enlarging their jobs would be of your benefit.

I worked at Vodafone UK part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good Pay, Good flexibility shown if you're on good terms with the management. You meet some really cool people amongst staff and customers.

    Cons

Can be very strict with holidays, especially in the bigger stores. Progression within the company can be very hard to come by and you often see people who've been in the same position for 15+ years. Quite apparent favouritism shown towards certain staff by management (saying this from a 'favourites' perspective). Pay scheme and bonus, took a turn for the worst recently, many staff members left in the bigger due to complete disrespect to long serving staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A well done can go a long way sometimes rather than the tough love approach deployed by Vodafones' management.

I have been working at Vodafone UK full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Flexible working
Good facilities at locations refurbished to Vodafone standards

    Cons

    Where to start?:

Leadership and management - poor to non-existent, little of no regular feedback with direct manager, except where blame is to be attached to something that's not gone quite right.

Culture - Long hours and demands on personal time are off the scale. No appreciation of this, a VERY task driven, get it done, unrealistic demands on time/effort of people. There's no such thing as "bad news" being presented to Snr Managers and if it does, then junior people quickly take the flak, blame and responsibility for fixing "problems"

I've never come across an organisation with some many people feeling/looking stressed and completely maxed out with workload and demands on them.

A lot of interaction is on-line, calls, lync etc, so the "human" element of work is missing in very large parts, to the extent you could sit next to anyone on one of the campus for days and never know who they are or what they do, it's heads down and nothing social about people/teams.

Political - Power and connections are all in Vodafone. It's all about "perception" of you and not what you do, with Snr people quick and eager to take the credit for things going well and also VERY quick to seek blame when it doesn't

Support for people - It's a sink or swim mentality very quickly, after the good 3-day induction, you are thrown in and no leeway given for short time served. No-one seems to even care, or ask how new starters are getting on.

Constant Crisis management - Never think through initial decisions or project objectives and then apply extreme pressure and deadlines to fit original plan. Vodafone thrives on creating constant change, burning bridges, chaos and pressured work environment.

Organisation - completely silo and not joined up. Masses of work outsourced and makes it unfathomable to work through processes, if any exist at all. The C&W business still operates as a separate business and no sign of any organisational or cultural integration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The brand and internal comms about flexibility, well being, Voda way of working, great facilities, hides an organisation that is very short term and drives people to extreme limits of workload and expectations.
