I worked at Voith full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay, benifits some of the people I worked with.

    Cons

Constant battle between management and workers.
Management takes pride in firing as many people as they can There is a chance you could work here try it. But be fully prepared for big time drama. Even in the union plants. Apparently even there people think snitching is ok. Everyone is so concerned about what "your" doing they create problems. If everything is good amungst employees then management makes drama, and vise versa. So don't say I didn't try to warn you. Oh and there is absolutely no room for advancement, unless you treat your employees like garbage because I have personally watched 3 of the 10 supervisors who were actually good get fired for taking sides of their employees over management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the petty crap. Treat the employees who do their jobs woth respect. Stop finding any way possible to fire people. Especially the ones who can get things done when no one else can. How about not acting as though the company has no money, BUY YOUR PEOPLE supplies

    Pros

Seemed like a good job, it was presented with a good benefits and compensation package but was not not given the overall plan they had. Promised training but got none. Upper management made very poor planning mistake that cost me dearly.

    Cons

Mislead by management on the job length. Used by the upper management to complete the work they couldn't do and then discarded without good cause.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to make sure your are honest with employees. Don't use them and discard them because you couldn't budget and plan anything.

I have been working at Voith full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You rarely actually have to work.

    Cons

Most coworkers sleep all day if theyre even on the premises. If youre a worker, youll carry all the burden alone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit lying to employees, make everyone work equally, not just the people with good work ethic. Reward or at least acknowledge your good employees.

I have been working at Voith as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers. Voith workers are contracted and support each other.

    Cons

Low pay and no chance of ever getting a raise. Six years without a pay increase. Voith's only concern is for the client with total disregard for it's own people. Voith employees are contracted to take the blame.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your "employees have no rights" attitude.

    I worked at Voith full-time

    Pros

The benefit package is well above the norm and pay is good.

    Cons

Poor communication within organization. Environment triggers negativity and distrust amongst co-workers. Rumors run rampant from lack of communication by managers. No recognition for going above and beyond.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Require that your managers (at all levels) go through communication training and then hold them accountable for their interaction with their employees. Get rid of the managers who feel they are above that basic function as they are not helping you succeed. Employees are afraid all the time of what they don't know - so keep them informed and you will have a much more productive work environment. Time in a job does not mean a person makes a good manager. Be more selective and make sure they have the people skills as well as the technical skills.

I have been working at Voith full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Union company; Voith is always striving to do more and be better than their competitors so there are many different things to be involved in, most of the management staff tries to be fair and do the right thing. Voith recognizes that while education is important there are other cotributing factors therefore a college degree isn't necessary for advancement within management.

    Cons

There is no human resource department on site only located at corporate office, the management staff is composed of the typical "white males"; work is contractual job bids from different automotive companies as contract comes to an end there is the unknowing of whether "said company" will renew contract; voith rarely promotes within, few women or black males in management and no black women in management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't punish your employees because they are hard workers by keeping them stuck in their current roles without being given the opportunity to advance. Not all janitors and booth cleaners are uneducated individuals most have the potential to be more and become more; and please stop the nepotism!
