ProsYoung company, lots of growth potential, PTO amount is good, Pay is pretty decent, Training is not really existent for corporate.

ConsNot always hiring the right people, definite growing pains, giving people manager positions without any experience

    Too many direction changes!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsIt has been exciting and challenging to work at a company that has grown like Volcano has over the past decade.

ConsThe almost continuous reorganization and restructuring over the past 2 years has strangled the product development pipeline and severely damaged employee satisfaction.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire an active CTO to provide consistent direction and listen to your principal engineers and project managers. The previous CTO spent almost zero time at the Volcano Innovation Center and did not speak with PM's or technical leaders within R&D.

    Good people, poor incentives.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsPeople are fun and enjoyable to work with. Time off is comparable with most other companies. Fun events outside of work.

ConsGood changes happen slowly, and bad changes happen quickly. There really is no employee incentive program. Awards typically go to groups of people who are just doing their jobs, not going above and beyond.

Failing... management is bailing. Be prepared to be misled.

Second Fiddle to A Moron of A Manager (Former Employee)
    Rancho Cordova, CA

ProsA place to work and watch them run the business to the ground.

ConsBad investment in expansion to Costa Rica. Management hires cronies and forget about moving up.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider the mass exodus of key decision-makers (Presidents, VP's, Directors, Managers), this is a classic example of when rats are bailing a sinking ship. If you enjoy frustration and chronic misguided decision-making, feel free to join or try to join. Consider the collapse for the stock between 2011 - 2014... it's a roller coaster of a ride in the wrong direction for a reason - from $32 high to $16 low. A medium-sized company that wasn't ready for Primetime corporation and exchanging blows with it's competitors and investors.

    Assembler (Current Employee)

Prossince I am working in clean room, there was never a heavy lifting jobs; nice people on the lline

Conscompany moving to oversea soon, there's no hope for all of us in manufacturing.

Advice to Senior Managementproduction manager needs to get training on production processes instead of sitting in the office, and find the way firing people.

Great for cutting-edge engineering and medicine

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    San Diego, CA

ProsVolcano covers many aspects of their products: design, manufacturing, sales, etc. so any talented professional will have a role to play. Technology is amazing, sophisticated, and is key to saving lives.

ConsEngineering is an eight-hour drive north of the HQ. Another design team is out east. Software team seemed too eager to apply all the big-time methodologies and best practices, to the point of decreasing their productivity. (But this is not my area of professional expertise, and things may have changed.)

Advice to Senior ManagementOverall, the company was a very nice place to work. Good support from colleagues.
