Vonage is definitely a sinking ship! Massive LAYOFF!

Technical Support (Current Employee) Holmdel, NJ

ProsIt was nice to have an on-site cafe and the $100 towards food each month. Great co-workers and atmosphere. Also the summer picnic is fun!

ConsNo room for advancement. After 5 years of working here they just let 50% of the workforce go. Customers are rude and obnoxious. Always about the numbers which are almost impossible to attain!

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide the star employees to advance. Lay off the correct employees (bottom performers)

It's pretty much a side job.

Sales Representative (Former Employee) Downey, CA

ProsYou get to use a tablet. You don't have to pay out of pocket for supplies. Getting to speak with people walking by.

ConsPressure to make a sale each week, you might end up in a slow location with no foot traffic.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf your sales rep isn't making any sales try helping them and give them tips to improve.

    Smart, hard working people

    Manager (Current Employee) Holmdel, NJ

ProsSize of company allows you to gain broad experience. Employees are dedicated and hard working and company supports the community in many ways. Stable company with great facility and solid benefits. Purchase of Vocalocity diversifies company into the business segments.

ConsCareer paths tend to be within functional areas. Has been a financially conservative company but has been investing in multiple fronts over the last 18 months - driving multiple priorities.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to recruit experienced senior leaders to drive the business forward.

    Very friendly people

Business Analyst (Current Employee) Holmdel, NJ

ProsYou get a lunch allowance which is unheard of today. Very friendly people too. There are great events and great company picnics. They do have things to make your life at work at times fun because of the events organized during working hours.

ConsIt seems like you're not going nowhere and neither is the company. HR seems to be unable to support employees who really have issues which may be no different than most companies

    Business Process Analyst

Business Analyst (Former Employee) Holmdel, NJ

Pros- The facility was amazing for such a young company and the perks were nice too.
    - $100 per month towards the cafeteria/starbucks.
    - Onsite gym with trainers and massage therapists.
    - Amazing facilities manager with a great staff.
    - Room for growth, even with inexperience.
    - Great atmosphere and some really great people.

Cons- People have a tendency to be bitter when they have not been promoted.
    - The call center is located here and it can attract a young less experienced crowd.
    - There is a bit of favoritism towards the younger more attractive women.
    - Room for advancement can come with a price. Lateral moves are more common which means more work for the same pay. This however, can be a great resume builder.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the good work and pay people for the jobs they are doing.

Innovative, fast paced company with a clear vision

    N/A (Current Employee) Holmdel, NJ

ProsCasual work environment, friendly employees, food allowance, fitness center, beautiful campus

ConsNot many career opportunities and advancement, same people always get promoted. Very fast paced - this is not necessarily a bad thing, but if you need training and cannot hit the ground running, you probably won't succeed at Vonage.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire more workers as opposed to managers and higher level employees, and work with a leaner staff

    Micro-Management at Every Level

Senior Product Manager (Former Employee) Holmdel, NJ

ProsThe company is making a lot of money and they don't share it with their employees. However, they do have a great cafeteria.

ConsThe whole structure is not conducive for advancement or any contributions from junior, middle, or even senior staff. They are led purely by the dollar and everything is controlled by just a few C-Level people. No one else really adds anything in the end.

Advice to Senior ManagementClean-up your HR process and let more staff actually play a role in where the company is going. Don't focus so much on profits for shareholders focus on innovation for the future of your company.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
