    Pros

The market and need will exist more than most for this industry. If you are adept in playing the game of changing loyalties within the organization, you will be fine working here.

    Cons

Need to truly watch your back and not share any personal opinions with anyone no matter how confident you feel in your business relationship with them. You see and read about this type of work environment in the media but to actually work in it is a truly eye opening experience and makes one really appreciate no longer working there. What is billed as an "open communication" environment should be revised to an "Open communication" environment as long as you have nothing negative to say.

This is not an organization of "one goal, one vision" but rather a test of survival. Tread lightly and good luck.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach and hold yourselves accountable for your own actions and behaviors.

    Pros

    Nice people to work with.

    Cons

When the economy goes south, so does your job. MASS layoffs across the country.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize that people are what make or break a business.

I have been working at Vulcan Materials full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The benefits are good. Most of the people are great to work with. I was able to get task trained on several pieces of heavy equipment and I also got my CDL through the company.

    Cons

Mid-level management lacks interpersonal communication skills, leadership qualities. Several benefits discussed during interview were pulled off the table at a later date (tuition reimbursement, sick days). Not very many opportunities to move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work with mid-level management to reinforce the importance of employee morale. Emphasize leadership qualities and tactics and use them to create a more pleasant and efficient work environment.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
