Cons
NOT GETTING PAID AND NOONE SEEMS TO CARE! don't care if i see my family months at a time.make promises they don't keep.give promotions but not the pay that goes with it.keep managers that don't pull there weight let the other managers pick up the slack.
Advice to Senior Management
put your family first ,there sucking you dry
Pros
They have transportation for you which is good saves you from having to spend your gas on going up to 3 hours away.
Cons
Very early mornings, Not always going to get hours, never know when you are going to get off
Advice to Senior Management
Make the office look like an office(the place is VERY run down looking). Try being more professional and not overly laid back.
Pros
1. The more hours you get, the better the pay.
2. They will work around your busy schedule;you will get flexible hours.
Cons
1. You don't get no respect by management.
2. The job position is seasonal;you don't get no hours around the Fall season.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want to advance to the Management position, you must be a really hard worker who is reliable and independent.
Pros
A normal 9 to 5 job. Weekends off. Holidays off and 10 paid vacation days a year.
Cons
Hourly is overworked and underpaid. Salary is underworked and overpaid. I experienced both. California is an "at will" state so don't expect long-term employment these days. No, you can't sell your unused vacation days.
Pros
can call any day off
Cons
make you drive and not work enough hours... part time no steady hours
Pros
If there are any high pionts of this job it would be meeting new people. Traveling to places you might not have traveled to before.
Cons
If I can say this without sounding like a rant or defamatory. I can say that there is a turn over of employee's that make it hard on everyone there. A company with this many accounts with some of the largest companies in the world, one would think that this company would treat thier employee's with more respect and pay them for what they are worth.
Advice to Senior Management
To all of the people in management at Wis, Go the school to learn how to treat people like people not robots.
Pros
Full benefit package- 401k, dental, vision, medical. Employer paid basic life insurance
Decent salary range depending on how big your office is. Try for 1.2 Million + office to be eligible for better pay/bonuses
Advancement opportunities for those who can relocate
Yearly bonus paid out based on office results in comparison to previous year
Start with 2 weeks vacation
You are able to manage your location like you would your own business
Cons
Inventories start and finish at odd hours making family time difficult ( Your team can start as early as 2 am if you have a traveling office for a typical "morning" shift.)
Must use your personal car when doing field work and only get reimbursed $.27/mile after you travel 30+ miles.
Most local area offices cover 150 mile radius if not further. Expect to travel as needed
On call 24/7 to assist your management team, deal with technical issues, etc. Don't expect to finish dinner uninterrupted! Night inventories can start around 5 pm and go until the next morning. If you are up with a morning store you are still required to answer all calls 24/7 NO MATTER WHAT.
Must get a blackberry/I phone (which they will reimburse you $50/month for) to have access to read/respond to email all day.
No petty cash. Supplies can be ordered with no out of pocket expense however there always seems to be something you will need to purchase. You must wait 3 weeks to get reimbursed for expenses.
Advice to Senior Management
Employee retention is what every office struggles with. We barely pay minimum wage in several markets to our starting hourly Inventory Associates. There is no guarantee of hours for them which makes the Area Managers struggle to constantly find/keep good employees. If we didn't have that constant battle we would have more time to focus on making the company more money!
Pros
Diverse interesting people, Team work, Exciting ever changing clients, flexible scheduling.
Cons
Inadequate compensation, monetary as well as lack of bonus opportunities,or any appropriate perks. The extremely pervasive work enviornment that developes as a result of non exsistant motivating factors, lack of attainable short/long term goals,or any other measureable markers one could progress through or attain. A positive attitude dies of attrition at Wisintl. What is wrong wth you people? Such small changes would make a huge difference. IN my opinion Wisintl's goal was never to create a succussfull profitable bussiness it was the opposite. Maybe needed a tax writeoff etc. Who knows?
Advice to Senior Management
I believe the above comment say's it all.
Pros
- benefits. One of the few part time jobs wherer you can qualify for benefits
- easy work - if you can scan a barcode and count, its not so bad
- flexible: If you can't make a job, tell your manager in penty of time. No big deal
- it pays. Yes, minimum wage. But if you need pocket money you can make some
I saw a lot of complaints, so I felt compelled to post.
I work WIS as well as 2 other jobs. In our economy, and jobs being scarce, you do what you have to. Its not corporate suit-and-tie work. You are on your knees, on ladders and walking a lot to do an inventory.
Yes, you are rated on CPH (count per hour) and you are encouraged to count quickly. What else would you expect an inventory company to look for? Unlike others, I think the CPH goals are attainable. Not on the first day, mind you. I have been with it for about 5 weeks, and I am hitting my goals.
The hours are odd. Since stores want inventories done when they are closed, you will either work very early, or very late hours. Its a good thing if you have a 'regular' job and this is supplemental. Would be good for anyone who needs to work non-traditional hours.
You won't get rich. You won't go from this to the cushy corner office. You do have some lower-educated people, and some that can't get other jobs. But really, who cares? Do your job, get your money, go on home.
ITs a job. Its not glamorous. Its not easy at times. Its not cushy. but if you just need to make some cash while you are job hunting, or to supplement your household, its not bad.
Cons
- unpredictable hours - some weeks you have 20 hrs, some you have 5. Its up to the stores when you do inventories
- odd hours. I have done jobs at 2am, and at 11pm.
- low pay rate. It starts at minimum, maybe a hair higher. If you do well, they do give raises
- slim chance for advancement. For every inventory manager, there are dozens of counters. There isnt a whol lot of upward trajectory
Advice to Senior Management
Better training and on-boarding.
