Pros

Cons
do not have strong institutional clients
Advice to Senior Management
Build strong client.
Pros
Wachovia encourage training and development and owning your own career. Leadership was very engaged and 'walked the talk'. They were head & shoulders above their competition in the area of Diversity. Human Resources truly partnered witht he business to create a strong ethical and healthy corporate culture.
Cons
It's unfortunate the they were bought out by Wells Fargo. Well Fargo is WAY behind in the area of workforce diversity. Senior Management is primarily made up of "old white men"!!!! To remain competitive and retain a cutting edge workforce, Well Fargo will need to make some MAJOR changes.
Advice to Senior Management
Wells Fargo management should listen to their employees and make some significant changes - in the area of benefits, promoting employee development / education, and modernize their company culture. They truly appear to be still running the company as if the old stagecoach is alive and well!!!
Pros
pay and benefits were good
Cons
Lots of turf control. You couldn't do anything without first checking with 10 other people
Advice to Senior Management
there's a human side to business too!
Pros
large organization that invests in technology; Some opportunity exists for advancement
Cons
fear of job loss due to merger; incompetence at the middle managment layer
Advice to Senior Management
find out what is happening with the people at the lower levels
Pros
Diversity of the work place and the ability to express your business ideas without fear of rejection.
Cons
Limited cross group interaction at levels below senior management.
Advice to Senior Management
Establish more transparency of business units with regard to organizational make up.
Pros
Flexible environment with the ability to grow in many different areas of the company. Opportunity is available nationwide and international if desired.
Cons
Large company and sometimes you get lost in the shuffle. You must work hard to create a name for yourself.
Advice to Senior Management
Share information as soon as is can be shared with the employees. We want to know what is going on with our company.
Pros
The pay i pretty competitive. It is a huge corporation so their is room for promotion and relocation. The benefits are pretty decent. They have tuition reimbursmeent. Domestic partners are also allowed to be carried on your insurance.
Cons
When I first started working for them they were called First Union National Bank. Then Wachovia bought First Union. Now Wachovia is owned by Wells Fargo. The different changes in management can create a positive or negative work environment.
Advice to Senior Management
I think management should have more leadership skills. They should be there to help their employees grow and become more efficient in their skills and job responsibilities. More training classes are needed at wachovia.
Pros
Enjoyed working with many colleagues.
Cons
Typical large company. Management suggested that employees work with internal customers to help them solve there own problems. When it comes down to it, management flip-flops when internal customers complain.
Pros
Generous benefits
Competent management
Transparent internal communications
Never asked to work overtime
Ability to work from home for trusted employees
Cons
Got bought out by Wells Fargo, which is also a good company to work for; but the culture is entirely different
Bad economy lowering our profit-driven bonuses and raises
Advice to Senior Management
Thank you for everything you did to make Wachovia such an amazing place to work. Persevere at Wells Fargo and help them adopt some of our culture.
Pros
The company is conservative and is based on some solid principles. The product base is good and some key indicators reflect solid performance.
Cons
At Wells Fargo there appears to be a lack of immediate decision making. With almost every opportunity, many meetings and discussions must occur before a final decision is made and not all who should be aware get the decision communicated to them.
Sales, although important to business, is the emphasis. Hope customer service doen't take a back seat.
Advice to Senior Management
Everyone knows Wells Fargo acquired Wachovia. However, remember that the circumstances surrounding the acquisition involved a few employees, not the general population. In many areas legacy Wachovia employees feel a lack of respect and feel that legacy Wells Fargo employees do not want their ideas or opinions. Have an open, objective view to all employees because they want the combined company to be successful.
