Pros
Great benefits. Salary is competitive.
Cons
Management focuses on sales results only. Little training is provided to employees that are competent and responsible to improve their sales abilities. These employees are threatened and quickly managed out.
Advice to Senior Management
Manage your resources by identifying employee talents and provide opportunities for employees to get better at their jobs. Many good employees have left based on narrow minded leadership.
Pros
Goals are determined by your position, not your salary. If you are off, they don't expect you to make up your goal for that day - it is deducted from your goal.
Cons
MAJOR OVERSTAFFING! I am in a rural branch and they staff 4 personal bankers! The combined goal of the personal bankers here is equal to 320% of the branches goal. Commission is lousy. We have nothing innovative to offer clients. System and processes archaic.
Advice to Senior Management
Set your people up for success. Working here is very demoralizing. Reduce staff in the branches so that if they hit their goals the branch makes it as well. No need to put two extra people in there. The way it is now the branch blows the goal out of the water but none of the PBs make their goal. TOTAL BS!
Pros
Helping others makes it a rewarding career.
Cons
Managers and District managers are All about the numbers.
Pros
Enjoyed working with many colleagues.
Cons
Typical large company. Management suggested that employees work with internal customers to help them solve there own problems. When it comes down to it, management flip-flops when internal customers complain.
Pros
Benefits improved with Wells Fargo merger
Pay is average
PTO package is good
Cons
Sales metrics are high with limited states
Sales goals increased as we lose states to Wells merger
Advice to Senior Management
Ask & consider feedback from your senior reps
Pros
Generous benefits
Competent management
Transparent internal communications
Never asked to work overtime
Ability to work from home for trusted employees
Cons
Got bought out by Wells Fargo, which is also a good company to work for; but the culture is entirely different
Bad economy lowering our profit-driven bonuses and raises
Advice to Senior Management
Thank you for everything you did to make Wachovia such an amazing place to work. Persevere at Wells Fargo and help them adopt some of our culture.
Pros
There is a lot of upper mobility in the company.
It is a highly recognized banking organization that looks good for future promotions.
Cons
There is a lot of competition to get higher up in the organization, s it gets harder to climbn up the ladder. Customers can be irritating.
Advice to Senior Management
Consider more of your employees viewpoints. However, the training that is provided is excellent and the team work that is at Wachovia is really valued.
Pros
easy, pay is better than boa or other banks. PTO's are pretty awesome if youre not use to getting paid when you are sick or go on vacation.
Cons
customers are often very rude, not all products you sell are completely truthful, career tellers tend to be catty because they have no other aspirations in life besides being a tellerl
Advice to Senior Management
dont giver tellers the task of cash handling, customer service AND sales, that is alot of multi tasking and alot to ask for, for so littler money
Pros
Lots of departments to move into
Cons
Inconsistency is probably the biggest downside
Advice to Senior Management
Not much
Pros
The hours are great! The products are good.
Cons
VERY STRESSFUL Behind the teller line. Every morning you have to sign a commitment sheet that you are going to sell ## checking accounts. In your face every hours about how many account have you open. How many appts have you made for the personal bankers. All of that is going on while you are trying to take care of customers deposits. A Tellers job is sales now, however still a teller salary. You feel attacked daily! Most of the tellers are trying so hard to talk customers that are there to make a deposit into open up another checking or saving (that they do not need) even if you take out all of the money the next day. I see alof of teller presursing the customer daily...it is so bad that the customer are walking in the door saying NO I DO NOT WANT TO OPEN ANOTHER ACCOUNT!! I have been in banking for over 16 years and it is sad to see Wachovia care more about the numbers and less about the customers and employees!
